The throwing knife has existed in the Call of Duty series since the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and has been used creatively by players ever since, including a player whose knife ricocheted off of a car and into another player. While not as creative, one player managed to execute a Hail Mary of sorts with a throwing knife that stuck its landing a long way off.

Reddit user LaKoza was able to capture a fairly impressive moment during gameplay on the PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In a match of Ground War on Karst River Quarry, the player can be seen atop a cliff overlooking the map. With a Riot Shield, LaKoza slowly shifted the camera upward and readied up for the kill.

The video can be seen below.

Once LaKoza’s camera angle had reached a reasonable point, they launched the knife and, after about a five-second delay, the knife apparently struck giving LaKoza 110 points with the award Surgical. However, LaKoza had to immediately retreat after launching the throwing knife, as they had been wounded by incoming gunshots in the time it took to remove the Riot Shield to use the throwing knife. In the video, it’s also apparent that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare player had to take the time to secure the capturing of the once-in-a-lifetime kill.

In terms of shocking kills and moments of domination in Call of Duty, this doesn’t necessarily top them all, but it is an impressive feat nonetheless. The distance that the knife traveled isn’t shown, but it was considerable given the delay after LaKoza let go of the knife.

More and more videos such as the above one are bound to come out from skilled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players. After all, Modern Warfare is already 2019’s best-selling video game. As such, now that players are getting used to the game’s familiar systems, onlookers will likely see more videos of miracle kills and unthinkable executions that come out in similar Modern Warfare-related Reddit threads and other forums.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
