On December 10, Infinity Ward updated the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare playlists to include Gunfight OSP, Infected, Aniyah Palace as a Ground War map, and more. While it’s safe to say that fans were excited to play Infected, there are those who are unhappy with how these new modes have been added at the expense of others. In particular, some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans seem upset that Gunfight has been removed for Gunfight OSP.

For the uninitiated, Gunfight is the 2v2 game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that has proven to be one of the more popular new additions in the game. Gunfight OSP is a variant of Gunfight where players don’t start out with the same weapons, but rather have to loot their equipment from the map. While some fans like the mode, there are others who prefer the original version of Gunfight, and aren’t happy that they can’t play it until Gunfight OSP cycles out on December 18.

The comments on the Reddit thread where Infinity Ward announced the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare December 10 playlist update feature many people mentioning how they’re disappointed that Gunfight OSP is replacing regular Gunfight. Some of these comments include possible solutions for Infinity Ward, with one fan suggesting that Infinity Ward add a party playlist that would feature all these limited-time modes as possible match types during matchmaking.

This would be a good solution for those who still want to play game modes like Gun Game, but it would still allow Infinity Ward to keep promoting new playlists in the main menu. However, it’s unclear if Infinity Ward sees this as a “problem” that needs fixing, and it could be that it has always planned to cycle playlists in and out, even when it means fans can’t access some of their favorite game modes for a certain period of time.

Since launch, there has been some friction between Infinity Ward and the Modern Warfare community. Some feel as though Infinity Ward hasn’t done a good job of communicating, and some fans have taken their anger about the game to toxic levels. It will be interesting to see how Infinity Ward handles disgruntled community members moving forward, and if it will respond to fan backlash over replacing Gunfight with Gunfight OSP.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
