Infinity Ward is letting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players know that now is not the time to panic with the extension of the game’s first season. Originally slated to end on January 28, Infinity Ward announced that season one will end on February 11 and will give players as much time as they need to unlock content before then. While no news has come of a possible season two, it only seems like a matter of time before one is made.

With new maps, weapons and other customization options available via Battle Pass unlocks, season one has given plenty of players reasons to invest their time trying to level up in hopes of getting as much as they can prior to the old deadline. To assist players at whatever stage of the season, Infinity Ward went on to add that double XP, weapon XP and tier progression for Officer Ranks will be coming down the pipeline to supplement players in unlocking any remaining items.

“Over the next few weeks, a host of new items and challenges will arrive, including an in-game Challenge to earn the new Crossbow weapon, more remixed game modes, new playlists, and more in the Store to discover,” Infinity Ward said.

As the Crossbow stands to be the last unlockable for the season, there has been no announcement as when to expect season two’s launch as Modern Warfare continues to dominate sales charts. Call of Duty League’s launch weekend starts on January 24, so chances are that Infinity Ward will save a reveal as part of a kick-off event to preview what new maps, weapons and potential features fans can expect as an incentive to obtain a Battle Pass for the next season of play.

Though the Battle Pass contains some odd quirks, such as paying for otherwise free add-ons, it does add replayability value as well as having an overall positive effect on the game throughout season one’s run. With more time and XP bonuses to be had thanks to the extension, there should be no excuse to be pinning enemy combatants to the wall with crossbows galore before the February deadline.
