In its first season, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has shaken up its gameplay by giving players new maps, modes, and weapons, along with new additions to Modern Warfare’s many glitches for that extra bit of spice. But now that Season 1 has been going on two months now, it’s getting to be time for it to wrap up so Season 2 can shake things up even more.

Players have known since Modern Warfare Season 1 was extended last month that it would end on February 11, but back then Infinity Ward failed to specify whether Season 2 would begin on the same day or sometime after. It’s a mystery that the developer finally cleared up today. A new post on the official Call of Duty Twitter confirms that Season 2 will in fact start on February 11, so fans won’t have to wait at all to jump into a new battle pass and more of the new content that will await them then.

Right now, though, they will have to wait to find out what that new content will be. Beyond the start date, the Twitter post only reveals one other thing about Season 2, and that is the addition of Simon “Ghost” Riley from Modern Warfare 2 to the game’s list of operators. This is something that Infinity Ward has been teasing for the past week, and now it’s confirmed that players will be able to take to the battlefield with one of the more iconic COD characters.

For now, we can only speculate as to what else will come in Season 2. Beyond the official details offered by Infinity Ward, leakers have claimed that the new season will see the addition of modes like One in the Chamber and All or Nothing, along with weapons like a new SMG, a new LMG, and the Ballistic Knife. More than those, players believe that Season 2 will be when Modern Warfare’s long-awaited battle royale mode finally debuts.

February 11 is only a week from today, so whatever ends up being the case for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s next season, players don’t have long to wait to find out. Until then, they have one last batch of new Season 1 content to pass the time with, courtesy of an update released today. Said update introduces a number of new Modern Warfare playlists, along with a new Gunfight variation of the mode Grind.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
