The day many Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans have been waiting for finally took place  earlier today as Activision and Infinity Ward detailed the roadmap for season 2. Following a major season 2 trailer leak the previous day, the studio confirmed that Season 2 begins on February 11 and brings a ton of new content to the game. While the return of Ghost headlines season 2 content in addition to the classic map Rust, the roadmap also reveals two new operators that players will be able to try out later in Season 2.

Just like the arrival of Nitko during the second phase of Season 1, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is adding two additional characters midway through the upcoming season. While no dates were given, players can see Talon and Mace on the roadmap as well as the recently released trailer. Unfortunately, not much information is available on either character outside of a small blurb provided by Activision.

The man with the black face paint and sleeve tattoos on his arms is known as Talon, a member of the Canadian Special Forces. The hulking operator known as Mace is actually a former United States Army Ranger who has left the service in order to make some money as a mercenary. Interestingly enough, Mace also comes with his own skull inspired mask. While the post doesn’t outright say, it’s likely that Talon will be joining the Coalition faction, while Mace will be part of the Allegiance.

According to the story in Season 2, Al-Qatala agents managed to steal a Soviet nuclear warhead and smuggled it into the port city of Verdansk. Unfortunately for the good guys, the group also has access to chemical gas and are hell bent on cutting off the city to the outside world. To prevent a major situation from kicking off, Captain Price turns to British special forces operator Simon “Ghost” Riley, who players last saw in Modern Warfare 2, to track the warhead’s location and lead a team before things spiral out of control.

While longtime fans were no doubt excited, and perhaps a little confused to see Ghost return to the series, that excitement turned to disappointment about his updated look. For some fans, the mask no longer looks practical or plausible like it used to, instead coming off like a cheap Halloween mask. While that’s certainly debatable, it’s highly likely that Ghost will get access to alternative costumes, with many fans expecting a classic costume for those who would rather keep Ghost in his Modern Warfare 2 style.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
