Warzone 1, CoD’s initial battle royale entry released in 2020, was taken offline at 8AM PT on November 16th, 2022 following the release of Warzone 2. The previous game’s launch brought a fresh new take to the popular player-filled and action-packed match type.

Even though the new follow-up title is currently available, veteran players are wondering if the original installment can still be played. Here’s all that we know about the current status of Warzone 1.

Is Warzone 1 Still Playable?

Warzone 1 is still playable since it has been re-released under its new title, Warzone Caldera. This relaunched installment is now available on all platforms including the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and the PC. Keep in mind that you’ll only be able to play this installment if you have Modern Warfare downloaded and installed on your system.

Caldera is a separate game from Warzone 2 and allows players to carry over their progression from the previous Warzone. This includes player progression, cross-progression for XP and weapon XP, Battle Pass content, and weapons among other things. Players can now take part in a standard Battle Royale Playlist that is similar to what was offered before.

It’s important to note, though, that content purchased in Warzone 2 and MW2 will not be usable in Caldera. Similarly, XP and Weapon XP boosters will not be transferrable between battle royale games.

Further, both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep maps will not be playable in Warzone Caldera. However, it’s currently unclear if the developers will include these maps in a future update. As a final note, their post promises exciting developments in the future for Warzone 2.

Can You Still Play On Verdansk in Warzone 1?

As of this writing, Verdansk is not available to play on in both Warzone 2 and Warzone Caldera. However, the famous, ground-breaking map of Verdansk will be featured in Warzone Mobile once it launches in 2023, per Charlie INTEL. So fans of the old map, will have something to look forward to in the near future.
