Developer Dead Mage along and Publisher 11 Bit Studios have made good in their ongoing commitment to Children of Morta with the release of the game’s first content update, Shrine of Challenge. The new content is only one of many proposed updates following the strong sales of the game on release and is without a doubt a fantastic addition to an already high-quality game.

The developer writes about how the Bergson family had a difficult time in their battle against the Corruption but faced every struggle without a glimpse of respite. Now, Shrine of Challenge brings new tasks for veterans and new items for players to use. The new option of Hard Mode promises greater challenges, but also rewards players with additional experience rewards to match the effort needed to emerge victorious.

This means that battle-hardened players will need to navigate new fight rules and enemies, but will also be able to employ new and distinct strategies thanks to the addition of all-new items. The newest items total eighteen additions to the game, including granite boulders falling from the sky, bolts of electricity lighting up your enemies, and many more to discover. Among the newest enemies to face are the Dark Blade and Mech Constructor, each posing a deadly threat if left unchecked.

Along with these new additions are some quality of life improvements as well. The developer has included an all-new UI that features a larger HUD option, a balance update for Normal mode, and bug fixes.

Now is the perfect time to jump into Children of Morta. To celebrate the first launch of their 2020 roadmap, the developer has taken 30% off the price of the game for a limited time on Steam and GOG. Not only is the game well made, players have so much more to look forward to with the rest of the roadmap already being worked on.

According to Dead Mage, this includes a new playable character, online co-op, endless mode, an items pack, and finally, a brand-new chapter. This means that players can dive into the action now and continually revisit this great title over the coming year with something new to look forward to throughout 2020.

The update is available now on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
