Lately, there have been rumors floating around the internet suggesting that the next Grand Theft Auto game will be set in either Jamaica, Columbia, or even Vice City, as well as who the playable character will be. Of course, nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar yet, so it’s advised to not fully put one’s trust in the rumors.

However, one particular rumor that has been gaining some traction recently has been debunked by none other than CJ’s (the main character from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) voice actor, rapper Chris “Young Maylay” Bellard. Before Young Maylay stepped in and put the rumor to rest, it was said that he was allegedly involved in the next Grand Theft Auto game and was going to be a voice actor for a character (most likely CJ).

Young Maylay took to his Instagram account to deny the rumor, saying how he is not involved in Grand Theft Auto VI in any way. However, he also used the post as an opportunity to take a jab at Rockstar, and even said that if CJ is ever brought back, he will have to be voiced by someone else.

It is not fully clear why Young Maylay has a hatred for Rockstar, but he made it very evident in his post. According to user reports, when other people on Instagram tried to ask Young Maylay what was going on and why he hated Rockstar, he proceeded to insult them and told them to unfollow him.

As for the rumor itself, no one really knows how or where it came from. Given Rockstar’s track record, the company tends to favor a new setting and a new character for each of its Grand Theft Auto games. So if anything, if CJ was somehow brought back, he would most likely act as a non-playable character. On top of that, even if Rockstar did make some kind of prequel or sequel to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, it would have been done a long time ago since the game came out in 2004.

Despite the rumors and drama, it’s safe to say that there will certainly be another Grand Theft Auto game in the future, though no one fully knows when it will be announced or released.
