A Real-Life Story Turned Bloody Comedy
While currently poised for a February 24, 2023, release date, many may be wondering if Cocaine Bear is a film worth going to see in theatres. Based on a real-life incident in 1985 surrounding a black bear finding and ingesting substantial amounts of lost cocaine. This imaginative retelling of the story showcases the bear going on a cocaine-fueled rampage.Delivering a surprisingly great cast, this movie is set to deliver on aspects both thriller and comedy fans can enjoy.
Is Cocaine Bear Family Friendly?
If you were potentially interested in going to see this film with the entire family, you may want to consider leaving the kids at home.
As Cocaine Bear is currently rated R (as of this publication) and contains themes not suitable for children. Such as gore, drugs, and cocaine-addicted bears. (That last one isn’t an actual rated theme, but let’s be honest. It’s the most terrifying.)
Sorry kiddos, this bear isn’t trying to prevent forest fires like the other one you may have heard of.
Were the Real-Life Events Violent?
Looking at the recent trailers, and seeing the bloodied rampage the bear seemingly goes on must make one question.
Did any of this happen in real life?
You’ll be happy to know that the deeds of the actual “Cocaine Bear” are greatly exaggerated in the film.
As, while yes, a 175-pound apex predator did stumble across a sizeable amount of cocaine in 1985. By the time it was found, it had already died due to an overdose, with bags of cocaine spread out across the nearby hillside where the real life bear, dubbed “Pablo Eskobear”, was found.
Sure, the thought of a coke-fueled black bear stumbling about in a forest might make for some laughs. But after looking at the most recent trailer for the movie, it’s probably best that things ended the way they did (Luckily for us!)(Guest Article by Jerell Holiday. Editing by Gary O’ Driscoll.)
