This monthly Content Drop shows that we’ve got quite a number of August 2019 PC game releases. It’s shaping up to be a promising month. We’ll be seeing Madden NFL 20, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, Age of Wonders: Planetfall, Remnant: From the Ashes, Metal Wolf Chaos XD, and Oninaki. We’ll also encounter the paranormal and supernatural via Control, Man of Medan, and Blair Witch. Several PC game DLC and expansions will also arrive such as Vermintide 2: Winds of Magic, Total War: Three Kingdoms – Eight Princes, and more.

A text-based sci-fi adventure where you need to save a captain and his doomed crew.

Madden NFL 20 (EA): August 2
Get set and get ready to return to the gridiron gauntlet that is Madden. Madden NFL 20 has been available for Origin Premier subscribers for a quick trial, but its full release will be on August 2, 2019.

The Church in the Darkness (Paranoid Productions): August 2
Set in the 1970s, players will have to infiltrate a religious cult. The game’s story involves searching for your nephew in the isolated confines of Freedom Town, a settlement established by fanatics Rebecca and Issac Walker deep in the South American jungle.
Age of Wonders: Planetfall (Triumph Studios) – August 6
The next step in the Age of Wonders franchise will bring new additions to 4X strategy and empire-building.
Metal Wolf Chaos XD (General Arcade, FromSoftware): August 6
The elusive Japanese mech combat game finally gets a release.
Silver Chains (Cracked Heads Games): August 6
A spooky first-person horror game inspired by Layers of Fear, Outlast, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill.
Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure (Stuck in the Attic): August 7
An artistic point-and-click story where you try to cure your cursed talking cat whilst exploring Transylvania.
The Forbidden Arts (Stingbot Games): August 7
An action-adventure platformer game where you play as a young boy who wields fire magic.
Total War: Three Kingdoms – Eight Princes (Creative Assembly): August 8
After the original Three Kingdoms had collapsed, the Jin Empire unified China. But, a long and prosperous reign for the dynasty was not to be. Eight princes of the Jin started warring with one another, setting the stage for a conflict that would plunge China into turmoil once more.
Subdivision Infinity DX (Mistfly Games): August 8
A space shooter originally released for mobile devices has been fuly recreated for PCs.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw (Double Damage): August 13
Customize your spaceship, tackle bounties, earn your keep, and engage in fast-paced dogfights in the vast nothingness of the galaxy.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 – Winds of Magic (Fatshark): August 13
Get ready to battle the brayherds! The newest expansion will add the Beastmen as enemies, a level cap increase, and new weapons for the Ubersreik five, or four.. doesn’t matter!
Senran Kagura Peach Ball (Tamsoft): August 14
Part pinball game and part (well, mostly) anime entertainment. You’ll be bouncing balls among other things, that’s for sure for Senran Kagura Peach Ball‘s August 2019 PC game version release.
Ion Fury (Voidpoint): August 15
Previously known as Ion Maiden, the game has been renamed to Ion Fury to avoid legal disputes with the legendary rock band Iron Maiden. It’s a retro-inspired FPS.
Remnant: From the Ashes (Gunfire Games) – August 20
Team up with other survivors as you face off against deadly monsters in a post-apocalyptic world.
RAD (Double Fine Productions): August 20
An action roguelike where you’ve got your trusty bat and a slew of mutations that can turn the tide of a fight.
Oninaki (Tokyo RPG Factory): August 22
An action-RPG where you can bind yourself to demons and use their abilities.
Life is Strange 2: Episode 4 (DONTNOD): August 22
Continues the adventure of two brothers, this is Life is Strange 2’s penultimate episode. The fifth and final one releases in December.
Hunt: Showdown (Crytek): August 27
A first-person shooting game with bounty hunters. Made by Crytek, the studio behind Far Cry, Crysis, and the CryEngine. Hunt: Showdown leaves early access this August.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey (Panache Digital Games) – August 27
Take control of humanity’s primate ancestors who slowly but surely pass on their traits as you get closer to the evolution of homo sapiens.
Control (Remedy): August 27
Control is Jesse Fadens’s story. The main plot focuses on her personal search for answers as she grows into the role of the Director. The world of Control has its own story, as do the allies Jesse meets along the way. Side-quests and Secrets are everywhere. Jesse works with other Bureau agents, decodes cryptic ciphers and discovers strange Bureau experiments.
The Bard’s Tale IV: Director’s Cut (inXile Entertainment): August 27
The definitive version of The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrow’s Deep. Features a redesigned UI, more customization options, gamepad support, new items and enemies, and a brand new endgame chapter. Owners of the original game will also get the Director’s Cut content as a free update.
MXGP 2019 (Milestone S.r.l.): August 27
Take on all comers in so you can claim your motocross championship.
Crystar (Furyu Corporation): August 27
An anime-style roleplaying game where your character might end up crying… a lot. But, that’s because you’d end up using your tears to empower your attacks and weapons.
The Universim (Crytivo): August 28
A “God game” where you guide your civilization as it explores a planet and then, eventually, the galaxy and the universe beyond. The Universim officially launches after some time in Steam’s early access program.
The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game (Fantasy Flight Interactive): August 29
A card game set in The Lord of the Rings universe. The game has been available in early access for some time but it will officially release this August.
The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan (Supermassive Games): August 30
The makers of Until Dawn bring their craft to multiple systems, including PC, in this tale of darkness and dread on the Ourang Medan.
Blair Witch (Bloober Team) – August 30
Fear and horror hound you in the forest in this game based on the Blair Witch Project’s themes.
Re:Legend (Magnus Games Studio): August 30 (Early Access)
An online game that draws inspiration from Pokemon (monster catching) and Harvest Moon (taking care of your own village and farms). Re:Legend joins Steam’s Early Access program this August.
Decay of Logos (Amplify Studios): August 30
An action-RPG where you embark on a journey of revenge following your village’s destruction.
Pine (Twirlbound): August 2019
An open-world adventure game set in the fictional world of Albamare. You’ll have to craft, trade, and survive against giant beasts. There’s a rumored August 2019 PC game version release for Pine since it also releases for the Nintendo Switch this month.
