The map featured in Crackdown 3’s campaign will be around the same size as the map in the original Xbox 360 Crackdown, the game’s creator Dave Jones has said.

Speaking about the map size at Gamescom earlier today, Jones explained that “the campaign game will be a comparable size to the original Crackdown. For us it wasn’t about just how much further, it’s all about the verticality as well and we felt that was a really good sized city. People could learn it both horizontally and vertically.”

Crackdown 3’s multiplayer mode, meanwhile, will feature an entirely different map that’s able to take advantage of the mode’s 100% destruction, although the development team has yet to determine how big it will be.

“We haven’t decided on the size of the map yet we’re going to do for our multiplayer experience,” Jones added.

Crackdown 3’s campaign does not take advantage of the game’s cloud-processing capabilities, Jones explained during the same session, meaning that the environment cannot be completely destroyed. Instead, “the 100% destructible environments is limited to the multiplayer side,” he said.

Crackdown 3 launches in 2016 exclusively on Xbox One.
