With three other games under its belt, the Danganronpa series really had to get creative with its V3 characters. With contenders like the devious Nagito and fan favorites like Chiaki, fans couldn’t wait to see what the studio game up with next. Luckily, the third core entry in the series didn’t disappoint, and we got a cast of colorful and unique characters unlike any we had seen before.

18 Korekiyo Shinguji - Ultimate Anthropologist
Korekiyo is the ultimate anthropologist and arguably the most demented member of the cast. Korekiyo mentions that humans are creatures of infinite beauty and seems off to his other classmates. During the killing game, he manages to murder both Angie and Tenko to give his sister more friends.
As it turns out, he loves his sister, and she has been dead for a while. His goal in life is to kill young girls who he feels can be friends with her.
17 Angie Yonaga - Ultimate Artist
Angie is the ultimate artist and part of a cult. Most of her thoughts revolve around worshipping Atua and trying to introduce others to his glory. This even leads her to make an in-game cult that enforces tough rules on the other students.
Unlike the other characters in the game, her belief in Atua keeps her from being disturbed by the murders. This eventually ends up in her being killed by Korekiyo while looking for a candle.
16 Kirumi Tojo - Ultimate Maid
Kirumi is the ultimate maid and the supposed prime minister of Japan. At the start of the game, she is happy to stay in the dorms cleaning up after her classmates. During the second chapter, though, she learns that she is a de facto prime minister and becomes determined to escape.
This leads her to kill Ryoma, a member of the cast who puts up little to no fight when confronted by Kirumi.
15 Kokichi Oma - Ultimate Supreme Leader
Kokichi is a member of the class who claims that he is the ultimate supreme leader. Kokichi spends most of his time lying to his classmates and then revealing to them later on that he was fibbing.
This infuriates many of the cast members and even drives Miu to try and murder him. By the end of the game, you learn that he is actually nothing more than a soda-loving prankster.
14 Tsumugi Shirogane - Ultimate Cosplayer
Tsumugi is the ultimate cosplayer and the mastermind behind the killing game. For much of her screen time, she pulls off a perfect facade of being shocked at each murder and never got heavily involved with any of her classmates.
Due to her meek appearance, she managed to go undetected as the potential mastermind until the very last trial. It is heavily implied that Tsumugi has also participated in other killing games and survived.
13 Keebo - Ultimate Robot
Keebo or K1-B0 is the ultimate robot and one of the final survivors of the game. It is revealed throughout the story that he has a hard time with human emotions and, even at one point, wishes for the ability to cry.
He gets close to Miu, who enjoys performing updates on his body and is shown to have weaponry at the end of the game.
12 Tenko Chabashira - Ultimate Aikido Master
Tenko is the ultimate Aikido master and enjoys spending her free time training. She is one of the loudest members of the cast and doesn’t have a problem confronting Angie about her beliefs.
She does have a short temper and is quick to use her fighting skills for defense. Tenko also shows a distaste towards men which can be seen throughout the game’s story
11 Kaede Akamatsu - Ultimate Pianist
Kaede is the ultimate pianist and the first protagonist of V3. Her ultimate goal is to stop the killing game, and she ends up being framed for murder early on. Despite her grim fate, Kaede becomes close with Shuichi and even encourages him to help solve the trial that ends in her execution.
Her determined personality is even seen up until the very end, inspiring the rest of her classmates to push forward.
10 Kaito Momota - Ultimate Astronaut
Kaito is the ultimate astronaut and develops a close relationship with Maki and Shuichi. He pushes the class to train so that they can be ready for anything and stays in high spirits.
Kaito is known for giving dramatic speeches and considers himself to be a hero in the killing game. Sadly Kaito kills himself in order to save Maki from being executed.
9 Maki Harukawa - Ultimate Assasin
Maki starts off by telling her classmates that she is the ultimate child caregiver. Later it is learned that she is actually the ultimate assassin explaining her relatively cold nature. She prefers to spend her time alone in her lab for the earlier parts of the game as she hates people.
She grows affectionate towards Kaito, and thanks to him is one of the three survivors left at the end of the killing game.
8 Shuichi Saihara - Ultimate Detective
Shuichi is the main protagonist of the game and the ultimate detective. After Kaede’s execution, he dedicates himself to stopping the killing game. Shuichi quickly allies with Maki and Kaito who helps him to survive.
After the murder, he works diligently to put the pieces together and find the murderer. Shuichi doesn’t lose hope easily and eventually escapes with Maki and Himiko.
7 Ryoma Hoshi - Ultimate Tennis Player
Ryoma is the ultimate tennis player and is the only character who doesn’t want to survive. As it turns out, Ryoma had so spent time in jail after killing some thugs.
This leads to him having an apathetic nature and eventually letting Kirumi kill him. Ryoma does have a cool disposition and seems to be friendly when spoken to by his classmates.
6 Rantaro Amami - Ultimate Survivalist
Rantaro is the first character killed in the killing game and dies without knowing his talent. Towards the end game, it is revealed that Rantaro was actually the ultimate survivalist.
During his time still alive in the killing game, many of his classmates identified him as a carefree individual.
5 Himiko Yumeno - Ultimate Magician
Himiko is the ultimate magician who believes she has special powers. She is also one of the characters that has the hardest time dealing with the murders. Because of this, she ends up becoming close with Angie, who pulls her into her cult.
Despite being one of the weaker stomached protagonist, Himiko stays determined to cheer her friends up and survives the killing game.
4 Gonta Gokuhara - Ultimate Entomologist
Gonta is the ultimate Entomologist and is a gentle giant. He makes many attempts to share his love of bugs with his classmates and is always ready to lend a helping hand.
In the killing game, Gonta is eventually driven crazy by fake memories of despair and murders Miu. After the murder, he loses his memories, making him unaware of his actions.
3 Miu Iruma - Ultimate Inventor
Miu is the ultimate inventor and one of the most disliked members of the class. She does grow close with both Keebo and Gonta, who aren’t put off by her rude personality. Miu devotes her time coming up with new inventions and doing upgrades on Keebo, who she has a crush on.
Miu is eventually overcome with despair and tries to murder Kokichi, leading to her own demise.
2 Monocubs - Monokuma’s Children
The Monocubs consist of Monotaro, Monodam, Monokid, Monophanie, and Monosuke. These cubs pop-up together regularly to agitate the classmates and are eventually all killed during executions.
They have basic personalities and often get in fights with one another, bringing a comical aspect to the story.
1 Monokuma - Robot Bear
Monokuma returns as one of the main antagonists of the killing game. He is more absent than usual and sends the Monocubs to deliver messages to the cast. Monokuma is still active during class trials and helps carry out the executions.
He still carries with him the same sadistic nature as in other games, only this time he will let unjust trials slide like seen in the case of Kaede.
