In Darksiders Genesis, fans of the series return to a post-apocalyptic Earth they know and love, inhabited by angels and demons from another realm. In this prequel spin-off of the franchise, two Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the returning War and the enigmatic Strife, set out to stop the ruler of Hell, Lucifer, and his underlings from taking over the world. Players can switch around as either character or invite their friends and take control of both brothers in co-op while questing forth to bring balance to the universe. Each of the brothers brings their own strengths and utility which will come in handy when taking on the scores of demons and bosses.

In-game, players constantly control either War or Strife as they hack and slash their way through oncoming hordes of enemies. Killing these foes will allow access to combo abilities and skills such as Chaos/Anarchy which turns either brother into a hulking avatar of judgement. Furthermore, collecting the souls that dead foes leave behind will allow players to upgrade War and Strife to better match the denizens of Hell. War takes a more hands-on-approach, fighting enemies in melee range while Strife kites and shoots foes from afar. Using the skills and experience acquired by the brothers so far, players will face off against Stormcaller at the end of Chapter 12.

Fighting Stormcaller

When the fight begins, Stormcaller will summon a bunch of minions to aid him. It is recommended to use Chaos/Anarchy at the start to kill off all the adds while damaging Stormcaller in the process. The boss can summon lightning to strike specific areas, indicated by a circle on the ground; failure to avoid this trap will stun the player and leave them vulnerable to further attacks.

If Chaos/Anarchy wasn’t used initially, then players should finish off the adds now with War’s devastating AOE attacks before they become even more of a nuisance. Afterwards, Stormcaller will shoot electricity from its weapon in a straight line, which will be harder to dodge if the minions from before are still alive, kicking, and in the player’s face. Switching to Strife is a good choice to keep a distance from Stormcaller’s attacks and deal with any stragglers. Keep up this pattern and eventually,` the boss will go down, clearing Chapter 12.

In the end, Stormcaller is not one of the main bosses in Darksiders Genesis, but his fight features mechanics and awareness that players need to keep in mind when confronting Lucifer and his cronies later on. For now, this encounter serves as good practice and fulfilling all these conditions will allow War and Strife to rain on Stormcaller’s parade.
