Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is bringing an update to the game about girls barely playing volleyball, including the addition of some rather immersive features. The game’s latest trailer, straight from Koei Tecmo, shows how players will be able to get up close and personal with the ladies using the Switch’s “Soft 4D” and the PS4’s “VR paradise.”

The “Soft 4D” engine, as Siliconera describes it, combines the HD rumble feature of the Joy-Cons with the Soft Engine visuals of the game itself. The trailer includes a lot of boingy sound effects and chest shots, implying that the player will somehow “feel” the extreme bounciness Dead Or Alive Xtreme is known for.

As for the PS4’s VR Paradise, that should be self-explanatory. However, DualShockers has some more details about the mode in their coverage. For one, the mode will require a VR Passport. The item will be given for free on the Japanese PS Store from March 20th all the way to April 2nd. VR Paradise will also take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s capabilities by upgrading the details of girls’ facial expressions. Because that’s not creepy at all.

Scarlet’s roster will consist of eleven girls. Kasumi, Ayane, Hitomi, Helena, Marie Rose, Honoka, Nyotengu, Kokoro, and Momiji are all returning from the original game. Joining them will be Misaki from Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation, as well as a mysterious newcomer who will be announced at a later time.

The last big piece of info is that the Switch version will eventually get a free-to-play release. It’s interesting to see Koei Tecmo embrace this model with the franchise. It makes tons of sense when you think about it. Other games such as the Fate series and Fire Emblem Heroes have made some good money selling anime waifus in different costumes. Why not do the same with bikini-clad girls you can sort of touch with Joy-Cons? One has to wonder if we’ll ever get to the point where the Xtreme series becomes the main project and the Dead Or Alive fighting games are left in the shade.

Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet will release in Japan on March 20th, 2019.
