Deadpool has been denied a release in China after censors deemed the movie’s graphic violence, language and nudity too much for audiences, local media reports claim.
The no holds barred approach to its content is one of Deadpool’s major selling points, with its R-rating sure to appeal to fans of the comic book character.
Fox and Marvel had no comment to Variety yesterday.
Ryan Reynolds stars as Deadpool, a mercenary with accelerated healing powers as a result of experimental treatment for cancer. In the film Deadpool aims to track down those responsible for what happened to him.
Deadpool is set to open February 12 in the US and major international markets including here in the UK.
