Developer Kojima Productions has offered up more details on what we can expect from the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut release, and given a release date for the new version of Hideo Kojima’s latest game.

During last night’s State of Play a new trailer revealed that, as well as the expected visual enhancements for the PlayStation 5 upgrade, there’ll be new story missions, new battles, new weapons like the Maser Gun and even advanced combat mechanic changes that include upgraded melee attacks. There’s also some new delivery support options such as a Cargo Catapult and a Buddy Bot.

There’ll also be some new locations for Sam Bridges to explore, including a new Firing Range area and even a new ‘Fragile Circuit’ minigame that appears to turn the adventure into a racer, complete with multiple circuits and leaderboards to compare times with friends.

An additional brief Q&A video with Head of Publishing Jay Boor answered some more questions about the release, including the confirmation that this version will also include the Half-Life and Cyberpunk 2077 crossover content from the PC release.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut will be available as a $10 USD upgrade from the PlayStation 4 version, or as a standalone game on the PlayStation 5. It’ll launch on September 24, 2021. You can check out our review of the original release here, and check out both new videos for yourself below.
