Destiny 2 players who have been at it for a while have likely come across the Wanted: Gravetide Summoner bounty. However, with the game’s player base still growing, there’ll be lots of newbies looking to level up and collect the most powerful gear as quickly as possible.

If you’ve already picked up the bounty during one of your visits with The Spider on The Tangled Shore and you’ve already done it, then all good. It probably doesn’t hold that much weight, but it’s good for some useful gear and players who haven’t should definitely consider putting in a little graft.

The Spider generally has some pretty sweet bounties and, towards the end of last year, a reset saw to it that some more were added to the game. The boss-level Gravetide Summoner bounty will send you to Titan, where you’ll be put through a pretty stern challenge.

It’s one of those whose location moves between Lost Sectors, but it was in Siren’s Watch in its first week and the process is the same wherever it is.

How To Get The Bounty And What To Do

So, to purchase that particular bounty, you have to deliver five Ghost Fragments to the Spider. These can be obtained from participation in Public Events, Patrols, finishing high-value targets off, and completing Spider bounties on the Tangled Shore. The bounty has a recommended power level of 540 attached to it, so expect some difficulty if you aren’t quite there yet.

Once you have it, a Titan adventure appears and requires you and your Guardian to make it to the end, where you’ll find the Gravetide Summoner. Of course, there will be enemies to defeat along the way and solar weaponry comes in extra handy for this one as there will be Wizards to take on.

It’s actually impervious to damage, so you’ll have to destroy a nearby Gravetide Ogre to change that. The Ogre has quite a lot of health, but damage can be dealt to it when you kill particular Thrall pests - those with the yellow health bars (for the pros, Cursed Thrall) - and acquire a special buff called Ogre’s Fear that allows you to administer more hurting. You could also put your Super ability to use if you want to make getting through the Ogre even quicker.

After you kill the Ogre, the Gravetide Summoner becomes easy work, but do note that you cannot deal any damage to it while the Ogre is still alive so focus all of your firepower in its direction.

Rewards

Once that’s all done, you’ll soon be in receipt of some powerful gear.

As mentioned above, it’s not really a big deal if you’re a seasoned Destiny 2 player but it’s still worth knowing that there’s another avenue for getting your hands on some top-class loot.

The Season of Opulence is well underway and there’s so much more to do as a Guardian, plus the Shadowkeep expansion will go live on October 1 after being pushed back from September 17.

More Challenges

Fans looking forward to the new changes should have been disappointed to learn that they’ll have to wait two more weeks than originally planned.

With Bungie splitting from Activision, the devs claim they’re perfectly poised to make the best decisions for the game and its player base, although this particular one was a little hard to take.

The delay should mean that the rest of the stuff on the roadmap will get moved too. For one, the first raid will become available on October 5.

So, while you might be an old Destiny vet, you may not have much to do before the expansion drops, so why not Gravetide Summoner?

Also, if for some reason you’re reading this and have made it this far even though you don’t have Destiny 2, all is not lost as a free-to-play version of the game called New Light is coming in October as well.
