As scheduled, a new exotic quest is live in Destiny 2 for the exotic sidearm Devil’s Ruin. This new exotic is part sidearm, part laser and it is obtained through one of the easiest exotic quests that the game has ever seen. This exotic, which players knew was coming due to the Season of Dawn content calendar, is not the most powerful weapon in the game, but it does have a very unique function. It can fire as a normal sidearm but when the trigger is held down, it will refill the magazine and fire a concentrated trace-rifle-like beam.
There’s really no missing this exotic quest. When players sign into Destiny 2 upon the January 7th reset, they are greeted by a message saying that Devil’s Ruin is available and gives them the first step to start the quest. Spoilers: the quest never really gets any more difficult than this.
Complete the Sundial
As is spelled out by the announcement message, players need to run the Sundial, the new seasonal activity in Season of Dawn. While the Legend mode of the Sundial also launched today, and some players thought they had to complete this harder, non-matchmade version of the activity, players can, in fact, complete the normal Sundial version and still pick up the quest for Devil’s Ruin.
Players can matchmake into the Sundial (or play the Legend version if they so choose) and complete it. When they visit the panel at the end where they pick up their rewards, the quest for Devil’s Ruin will appear. Pick it up and it’s off to the Tower.
Speak to Saint-14
The quest next sends players to the Tower to speak to Saint-14 in the hangar. Simply talk to him for a bit of text and to unlock the next step of the quest.
Complete ‘Parts Long Lost’ Mission
After speaking to Saint-14, a new mission on the EDZ will open up called ‘Parts Long Lost’ that players can load up solo or with a pre-made fireteam. The mission will load players into the Twilight Gap PvP map without any enemies and task them with finding 10 destroyed robots scattered across the map. Players will hear dialogue during this mission from Saint-14, Osiris, and Shaxx. Simply visit all 10 fallen robots and then the mission will end and Devil’s Ruin will drop straight into players’ inventory. And that’s it.
It’s an extremely fast and easy quest that does not require much to complete and which can be easily completed solo without any effort. Players seem split about both the length of the quest as well as the weapon itself, but especially with how easy it is to get, it is definitely worth picking up this new exotic.
