In Season of the Worthy, Guardians will have to help arm the Warmind in order to take down The Almighty.
So remember in The Red War how there was a giant sun-destroying vessel that you disabled? Well, The Red Legion is pretty upset with all the awful stuff Guardians have been doing–most recently stealing back the Sundial from those crazy Psion Flayers. One of those Flayers escaped, and now he’s sending The Almighty straight towards the Last City in a petty act of revenge.
The Almighty, as some of you might recall from the earliest days of Destiny 2, is a vessel so large that it can destroy the sun. It would probably do more to Earth- than merely destroy the Last City, but it looks like The Red Legion doesn’t really care what happens to Earth anymore.
Earth’s only hope is Rasputin, the Mars-based Warmind. In Season of the Worthy, Guardians will take part in new Seraph Tower Public Events to re-arm the Warmind as well as Legendary Lost Sectors to reestablish communication channels between all of humanity’s bastions.
As you can see from the cool trailer above, Rasputin is getting some pretty neat robots to help out. And what is Osiris doing in the meantime? No idea. Seems he’s gone off somewhere, as he’s want to do.
As with every new season in Destiny 2, Season of the Worthy will also bring new Exotic and Legendary Gear. Tommy’s Matchbook is a brand new Exotic Auto Rifle that looks like a Tommy gun, while the official Bungie website reveals new winter soldier-type armor along with modern-looking weapons, including a new sidearm, hand cannon, machine gun, shotgun, auto rifle, and SMG.
There’s also a new four-barreled shotgun that Zavala wields. No word on what it’s called, but it’s almost certainly a new Exotic.
We also have new details about the returning Trials of Osiris. While the Trials will be free to play, Guardians must be power level 960 to enter. Pinnacle rewards will drop for completing “multiple wins in a row,” while winning 7 wins in a row will provide “additional rewards and special access to the Lighthouse.”
The new Seasonal Artifact will be called the Warmind Khanjali, a style of dagger from ancient Russia. Expect new seasonal mods and seasonal bonuses, along with a new Season Pass that will provide owners with faster access to all the good stuff.
Season of the Worthy starts March 10th at 10 AM PST.
