Bungie attempted to level the playing field with the release of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, which provided a ton of changes to the gameplay sandbox. Everything from weapons to supers were changed in some capacity including the process of how player buffs and nerfs are now calculated. However, not everything was adjusted as some items and supers made it through without much change. One item favored by Crucible players is finally going to be adjusted.

In its latest blog post, Bungie spent a lot of time discussing upcoming balance changes for Destiny 2. While it won’t make the cut for later this month, the One-Eyed Mask, an exotic Titan helm, was also specifically called out in the post. Although Bungie didn’t provide any details, the studio informed players that they should expect to see a change coming in a future update.

Originally introduced in the Forsaken expansion, the exotic helmet quickly shot to the top of most Titan PvP tier lists thanks to its ability to mark any enemy that causes damage against the player. In addition, if the wearer is able to kill the marked target, they gain increased damage, instant full health, and an overshield. Without a way to counter this item, Bungie has attempted to bring the item back in line with other exotics by reducing the opponent mark time and charging the health with the shield instead of instantly earning it. The changes helped a little but the item remains extremely strong, so much so that it has once again gained Bungie’s attention.

In the meantime, Bungie is finally making moves against Striker Titans and Dawnblade Warlocks with the upcoming update. Bottom tree Striker Titans have seemingly been at the very top of the PvP meta thanks to a super that many players viewed as lasting way too long. Despite a previous nerf to reduce the amount of super gain for both subclasses, Bungie is also adjusting the Titan’s Trample and Warlock’s Everlasting Flames skills. Essentially, the nerf reduces their super energy regeneration and provides diminishing returns on the more kills players get. While this will no doubt be disappointing for those players, it’ll likely adjust the Crucible meta for the first time in a while.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
