Players will finally be able to exchange materials raw materials via The Speaker in Destiny when the House of Wolves DLC launches next months, Bungie has revealed.

The news comes following Bungie’s livestream of the forthcoming DLC (via IGN) which gave players a brief glimpse into the many changes that will be arriving soon. For too long players have held on to unneeded raw materials in the hope that one day they’ll be able to sell it, and that day has finally come. These materials can be swapped on a 1:1 ratio, so players won’t be short-change, either. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like swapping class-specific materials will be an option, though.

More good news for Destiny players is that you won’t need the House of Wolves DLC in order to explore the new social space in The Reef, called the “Vestian Outpost”. You won’t be able to enjoy the quest or story content within without having bought the DLC, but you can still have a look at what’s what.

Bungie has also made it possible to upgrade current Legendary and Exotic gear to the new max thresholds via a new upgrade path called “Ascend”. It will require a new material called ‘Etheric Light’, but even players without the DLC will be able to obtain it via Iron Banner and other means in order to reach the new max levels for guns and armour, so everyone will be able to reach the new level 34 cap.

The Gunsmith is also taking over reforge duties for weapons. Rather than waiting for the Iron Banner to pop up, you can now speak to him in order to reset a weapon’s progression. Each faction will also be getting new gear and weapons.

There are also a bunch of new vendors and NPCs, including a Fallen called Variks the Loyal of the House of Judgement.

There’s plenty more to come from House of Wolves, too, as it looks like there’s a series of locked doors which could potentially open over the coming months, much like what’s happened in the Tower.

what do you think of all the change that’s coming to Destiny? Let us know in the comments.
