Diablo 4 and a Diablo 2 remaster may be revealed at BlizzCon 2019, according to leaks reported by VG247 and CCN.

At BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard unveiled Diablo Immortal, a mobile-exclusive installment to the hellish hack and slash dungeon crawler series. Sadly, lots of fans didn’t like what they saw because before the event, rumours swirled that one of the ‘multiple’ Diablo-related projects was Diablo 4, and would have been announced then and there. Despite Kotaku’s sources saying that Diablo 4 was intended to be shown off, Blizzard doubled down and stated it ‘didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon.’

It is possible that ‘Diablo IV’ refers to Diablo Immortal in this case. It is the fourth game in the Diablo series, even if fans are loath to acknowledge that. However, the artbook is primed to arrive after BlizzCon and would drum up excitement and enthusiasm rather effectively. Then, Overwatch streamer Metro took to Twitter to stir up speculation. ‘For anyone who cares, Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 remastered will also be announced,’ they casually commented. I wager that lots and lots of people care, but also must proceed with caution.

BlizzCon begins on November 2 so we will have to sit tight and see if these sightings come to fruition. If it does, it may be overshadowed by the planned protests to be held at the convention resulting from Blizzard’s Hong Kong controversies.

Although Metro was on the money with Overwatch hero Ashe’s announcement, it’s very possible that news of a Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 remaster has been lost in translation. In addition, they’re claiming that Overwatch 2 is coming too, which would make for a very busy BlizzCon indeed. And, Overwatch on Switch has only just launched and it would be odd for Blizzard to outmode it so soon.

For anyone who cares, diablo 4 and diablo 2 remastered will also be announced. 🙂 #BlizzCon2019
