Have you taken a look at your mouse lately and noticed just how healthy it seems? If you’re anything like me, it’s because you aren’t furiously clicking those buttons for hours at a time trying to rid the world of Sanctuary of Diablo’s (and his brothers’) minions in Blizzard’s fantastic Action-RPG Diablo II. It may be time to dig that wrist brace back out, however, as in an interesting move of continued support, Blizzard has released Patch 1.13 and reset the Diablo II ladders on Battle.Net.
Though not as extensive as a lot of fans wanted (no increase to stash size, unfortunately), the new patch does address many things that will enhance the fun already found in Diablo II. One of the major–and most celebrated–changes included is the ability for players to respec their characters. Other changes include additional secret content (probably akin to the Pandemonium Event added in 1.11), bug fixes, gameplay tweaks, and character skill balances. For the full patch notes, head over to this thread on the official Diablo II forums.
If I could count the total hours spent in various games throughout my life, the list would probably look something like this: 1. EverQuest, 2. World of WarCraft, 3. Final Fantasy VII, 4. TLoZ: Ocarina of Time, and 5. Diablo II. Fans have been waiting for the 1.13 patch for quite awhile, and though it was delayed a few times, I’m happy to finally see it come out. It’s pretty cool that Blizzard is still committed to supporting some of their older games, especially in a time when they have so many other projects on their collective plate.
Looks like it’s time to dust off my Paladin and head back into Sanctuary.
