The creative director behind Spider-Man PS4 is enjoying all the credit he’s getting for the success of the game, but believes Sony isn’t getting enough praise.

It has now been a week since Spider-Man was released exclusively on PlayStation 4 and the praise for the game continues to pour in. The story and depth is amazing, the graphics and attention to detail are incredible, we’re yet to find anything we don’t like about the game or even hear any complaints from anyone.

All of that praise is, of course, being aimed towards Insomniac, the developers of the game, and Marvel as the collaboration between the two companies made the venture possible. However, there’s a third party that is not being congratulated enough, at least according to Spider-Man’s creative director, Bryan Intihar, and that third party is the platform on which the game is exclusive, PlayStation.

“This game would not exist if it wasn’t for PlayStation, if not for their support,” Intihar explained during an interview with Kinda Funny Games. Whenever he would want to change something about the game, no matter how drastic, PlayStation would ask him just one question, “‘Is it gonna make the game better?” The answer would obviously be a yes, so PlayStation would simply tell him to go ahead and do it.

It may not sound like much, but what Intihar is trying to get at is the support he received from PlayStation during the creation of Spider-Man was invaluable. The platform let he and the rest of the team at Insomniac and Marvel get on with the task at hand and as you can see if you have played Spider-Man, it was most certainly for the best. It’s not the first time Sony has been revealed to be a supportive partner when it comes to game creation. Clearly, it’s an effective way to do business.

Spider-Man on the PS4 is evidently a project that could not have happened if it were not for all three of the above companies coming together and more importantly working together well. We who are currently slightly obsessed with the game thank them all for it, and will be sure to dole out equal praise to Insomniac, Marvel, and also Sony from here on in.
