Video game movies have a long history of being, well, let’s say, slightly sub-par. There’s a whole ream of explanations for this, from video game narratives being dependent on interaction to games having premises that are frankly dull if transferred to a passive medium like cinema. Then there’s the issue that games characters are often left with blanks, allowing us to project ourselves into them more readily. Sometimes, however, the games can’t take all the blame....

There are a lot of interesting characters in Dead By Daylight and every couple of months they expand the roster by incorporating new original ideas or pulling from well-established franchises. Dead by Daylight is a 4v1 multiplayer game where four survivors need to work together to activate generators in order to escape, while a killer hunts them down mercilessly to try to stop them. Its popularity certainly hasn’t waned despite being out for quite a few years now, and Behaviour Interactive has continued to put out more content updates for the game. The latest update sees the release of the Modern Tales collection, which is a selection of new outfits that you can purchase from the in-game store....

This Deadly Class review contains spoilers. Deadly Class Season 1 Episode 1 The Deadly Class premiere is difficult to judge. Like any show, it should be evaluated on its own merits in terms of the kind of story it’s trying to tell and the type of fan it’s supposed to appeal to. As an adaptation, it brings the Rick Remender/Wesley Craig Image comic to life in spectacular fashion, and it is as about as successful as anyone could hope — no surprise given the original writer and artist are attached to the project....

Destiny 2 has tried a variety of interesting ways to add new content to the game including small expansions throughout the year such as Curse of Osiris and Warmind, and large annual expansions like Forsaken and the soon to be released Shadowkeep. In Year 2 of Destiny 2, Bungie attempted a new seasonal system, releasing themed content over the course of a few months, and it appears that system is not only here to stay…it’s being expanded upon in Year 3....

Yesterday’s This Week At Bungie blog post gave us a sneak peek of what to expect next season in terms of ability changes and upcoming PvP content in Destiny 2. For starters, Bungie will introduce a new system for separate melee actions next season. In Destiny 2, players have been using the same button for both charged melee abilities and the standard melee attack. This occasionally causes issues where the game has difficulty predicting which action the player intends to perform....

When Capcom premiered it’s trailer for the latest Devil May Cry game on the opening day of the Tokyo Game Show, the fan response has been less than spectacular. Hideki Kamiya, the creator of the first Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, took to his twitter account to voice his opinion. In entirely unsurprising news, Blizzard has officially confirmed that the upcoming ARPG Diablo 4 will be monetized. While Diablo 4 won’t be revisiting the controversial days of Diablo 3’s auction house, or anything else of that severity, it does sound like Diablo 4 will be adopting some modern-day monetization practices. Blizzard states that it’s still very early and that monetization plans are in flux, but does make clear that Diablo 4 will not sell power....

Dinkum is a fun new Animal Crossing-esque game that players get to relax with. This game has players going out into the wild, capturing insects, raising farm animals, and more. One of the most important parts of games like these is getting new residents to your island. These residents bring new things to the island as well. Some bring in shops and others bring in buildings like museums and banks. But inviting them can be a task if you don’t know how to work around the same....

A remake of Final Fantasy VIII likely won’t be on the cards for a few more years, but it seems to be at least on the table. One of the key developers of the original game has said he’s interested in seeing younger staff members at Square Enix taking on the project for themselves. Square Enix revealed the Final Fantasy VII Remake during E3 2015, leading fans to hope that remakes of Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX would also be made in the future....

The Candy Crush series of games made an incredible $1.5 billion in 2018. That’s more than Pokemon Go and the mobile version of Fortnite managed to achieve. 2K Games and Firaxis Games revealed another trailer about the turn-based tactical game Marvel’s Midnight Suns, dedicated to one of its playable superheroes. This time around we get the introduction of Carol Danvers, A.K.A. cosmic heroine Captain Marvel. While the video is rather brief, we’re still getting the gist of Captain Marvel’sexplosive powers. Given the pattern of previous videos, we can expect a much more extensive video explaining these powers and Captain Marvel’s card deck in detail on top of another on the history behind the heroine herself across the next few days....
