Although licensed movie tie-ins rarely manage to make any form of impact in the video game world, Aliens has always seemingly been an exception to that rule. Alien Isolation was incredibly well-received when it debuted back in 2014, while 1999’s Alien Versus Predator was also a very well-regarded first-person shooter. New reports seem to show that a brand new Alien game could’ve been set to join these brilliant titles; however, a surprising recent factor meant the adaptation never saw the light of day....

The first Modern Warfare 3 gameplay trailer will air in the US tonight, developer Infinity Ward has announced. The trailer will be shown during the NBA Western Conference Finals at around 6pm PT, which is 2am in the morning for us in the UK. Chances are you won’t be able to see the trailer during the NBA if you’re in the UK, but the HD version of the video will be posted online, according to Infinity Ward’s creative strategist Robert Bowling....

Concrete Genie studio PixelOpus is working on a PlayStation 5 game, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. The news comes from several job listings (via VGC), one of which says, “We are seeking a Senior Engine Programmer with a generalist skillset to architect, implement, and modify runtime and tools features of PixelOpus’ engine technology and Unreal 5.” Unreal Engine 5, you may remember, was shown off last year in an intriguing tech demo for a game that we will tragically never get, called “Lumen in the Land of Nanite....

Confederate, a long-mooted HBO television project from Game of Thrones masterminds David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, is officially dead. In keeping with Ned Stark’s idiom that “the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword,” HBO president Casey Bloys himself confirmed to TV Line that Benioff and Weiss’s Confederate was cancelled, thus ending years of speculation over a potential powder keg of a project. However, given an array of events occurring ever since its original pickup, one did not need to be Bran the Broken to have envisioned this outcome for the snake-bit series....

Control is one of the most ambitious games to release in 2019, pushing the boundaries of both sci-fi storytelling and high-end graphics on PCs using Nvidia RTX video cards. 505 Games and Remedy Entertainment have announced that Control Ultimate Edition is coming to stores as early as August 27. Consumers will be able to purchase the game with all of its DLC, including the upcoming AWE expansion, in one convenient package. The Control Ultimate Edition will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, priced at $39.99 USD. Dead or Alive 6, the next chapter in Team Ninja’s long-running fighting game series, has been officially announced for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The upcoming brawler is pegged for an early 2019 release, although that’s about all we know so far. New info is expected at E3 next week. Considering it’s been six years since Dead or Alive 5, the timing certainly makes sense. Plus, Team Ninja said late last year that it was moving on from supporting the title....

The Dead Space remake came out on the 27th of January, and so far has been received incredibly well. However, like many games when they first release it has experienced its fair share of bugs and performance issues, nothing major but a few hiccups here and there. Luckily, the latest patch for the Dead Space remake is set to fix some of these issues, improving the all round experience for the player....

Yes, developer Abrakam Entertainment and publisher Nacon have finally launched their indie RPG on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A Switch launch is scheduled for Spring, 2022. Denuvo has been removed from Resident Evil 2. When the Resident Evil 2 remake released way back in January, Capcom saddled it with a controversial piece of software called Denuvo. Billed as an “anti-tamper” technology, Denuvo uses a patented system to constantly scan a game to determine if it’s been illegally modified. Mostly, game companies are concerned with games that have been “cracked” to work without any purchase. Most gamers don’t really notice, but PC gaming enthusiasts really hate Denuvo....

Bungie has two exotic quests planned for Season 8 of Destiny 2 and the first just released this week. Players were sent on a relatively simple quest to claim the Leviathan’s Breath exotic bow, which is the first bow to occupy the power weapon slot. While getting the Leviathan’s Breath is relatively easy, Destiny 2 players might still be curious whether the exotic weapon is worth the effort. Cowen & Company have predicted that Destiny 3 will launch in 2020, suggesting that Bungie and Activision’s recent parting of ways will be best for the franchise in the long run.
