When I first claimed A Study in Honor for a review, I expected it to be focused primarily on the advertised Holmesian connection. Instead, Claire O’Dell takes Arthur Conan Doyle’s introduction of Holmes and Watson in A Study in Scarlet and turns it 270 degrees, setting the mystery in a dystopian near-future, where Dr. Janet Watson (who, like her namesake, was injured in war) becomes the roommate to Sara Holmes, a woman with mysterious clients and condescending habits....

Relic Entertainment and Sega have announced that they’ll let fans get their first hands-on with a Multiplayer Pre-Alpha of Company of Heroes 3 tomorrow. This Pre-Alpha will give fans the opportunity to experience a small slice of the upcoming WW2 RTS. There’ll be four Italian maps to play on, across several gametypes. These include co-op versus AI opponents, competitive PvP against each other or Skirmish vs AI. They’ll also get to try out some of the threequel’s new features, such as Full Tactical Pause in skirmish mode....

Dauntless, the spunky, free-to-play action RPG with dreams of Monster Hunter, will leave beta and launch on PC next week. The game has been playable for some time, of course. Regardless of your opinion on platforms, that doesn’t mean Dauntless isn’t worth a look. Despite having released back in 2016, the asymmetric multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight is still popular to this day. This is largely thanks to regular support from developer Behaviour Interactive, which has continued to release substantial new Dead by Daylight content on a consistent basis. Now the next piece of Dead by Daylight content has been announced in the form of Chapter 15: Chains of Hate, which will introduce a killer, map, survivor, and more when it launches on March 10 for $7....

Dead by Daylight continues its dream of collecting every major horror movie villain in one place by adding Ghost Face from the Scream franchise. Ghost Face will be sporting his classic mask from the movies instead of the TV show version. Fans of Keiji Inafune’s Dead Rising series (sequel coming 8/21) will be pleased to know that was recently part of a movie production. Inafune and scenario editor Makoto Ikehara were involved in creation and development. The film, entitled Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun, will run along the series’ continuity and revolve around two brothers who try to escape a quarantine zone during a zombie outbreak. As you can imagine, the film will have tie-ins with Dead Rising 2 through the prescription drug from the title, Zombrex, an anti-zombification medicine....

Death Stranding Director’s Cut - the tarted up version of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed damp hillside traipsing adventure - will be making its way to Steam and the Epic Games Store on 30th March, with a $10 upgrade offer for owners of the original. Death Stranding Director’s Cut initially launched for PS5 last summer, introducing new story elements, a photo mode, expanded combat, new gadgets - including a laser gun and mounted machine guns - plus a variety of other tweaks to the original....

Bluepoint Games’ upcoming remaster of classic From Software title Demon’s Souls will get a few new additions in its PlayStation 5 remaster, including an upgrade to the character creator and a Photo Mode. Now, SIE Worldwide Studios has offered up a look at these new features on the PlayStation blog, revealing that you’ll be able to customise your hero with “up to 16 million permutations” promised, adding far more customisation options than were possible on the PlayStation 5....

It’s a big day for Destiny 2, as both the new raid Garden of Salvation and the new seasonal activity Vex Offensive launched at 10A.M. While the hardest of hardcore players are competing for world’s first in the raid, the rest of us will be grinding it out in the Vex Offensive where players can find not only new weapons but also a new way to farm powerful engrams. In typical Destiny fashion, players won’t be able to access the Vex Offensive until an introductory quest line is completed....

A glitch with the Wish-Ender exotic bow in Destiny 2 has boosted the weapon’s damage output to unprecedented levels among primaries in Bungie’s multiplayer FPS. The bug has turned what was once considered a middle-of-the-road exotic weapon into a must-have for PVE encounters in the loot shooter, even if only for a little while. Content creator Ehroar gave the bugged weapon a breakdown in a Destiny 2 gameplay video released Thursday....

Bungie addressed the Activision-less future of Destiny 2 last night in a livestream that covered a whole bunch of news for the shooter. Let’s dive right in: First off, Destiny 2 is going free-to-play. Rumours circulated over the last week this would be the case, and Bungie confirmed this new version of the game would be called Destiny 2: New Light. It’ll contain all ‘Year One’ content for the shooter – so that includes the Trials of Osiris and Warmind content – and will be available on every platform Destiny 2 is currently available on – PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 from September 17....

Destiny’s heralded PvP mode, the Iron Banner, gets underway at 6pm tonight. Lord Saladin will make his return, and for the first time ever players will be able to earn a pulse rifle, Skorri’s Revenge, alongside a machine gun, gauntlets and chest armour for their efforts. Blizzard is redesigning Diablo Immortal’s legendary crests to “help differentiate” them from the eternal legendary chests that cost players real money. Responding to a post in the game’s subreddit, lead designer Wyatt Cheng said that the team not only wanted to ensure the colours were different, but also change their shape, too, so “players know exactly what they’re getting when they make a purchase”. “This is artwork that we’re working on to help differentiate the Legendary Crest (which will become [the] Orange one) from the Eternal Legendary Crest (which will remain the purple one in the middle, that yields gems that can be sold on the Market),” Cheng explained....

DiRT 5 is rolling out major update 2.0 from today, and developer Codemasters has announced that, along with a fair few tweaks and changes, the update will also include a free festive Snow Limits content pack for all players.
