One of Halo’s defining trademarks is its revolutionary multiplayer gameplay - but in the modern gaming world multiplayer is old news. Everybody and his mother is multiplayer gaming these days - it’s just not enough for fan-favorite developer, Bungie. Rumors are circulating that the developers next revolutionary project will be a massively multiplayer online first person shooter named Destiny, currently codenamed “Tiger.” Kotaku has the report, from an anonymous source, after Bungie allegedly laid off an estimated 30 non-salaried employees with little notice (Bungie confirmed this is untrue - read their response here)....

The Messenger, the highly-rated action-platformer from Sabotage Studio, is getting a prequel, titled Sea of Stars (via Gematsu). Sea of Stars will be a “turn-based RPG inspired by the classics, chock-full of endearing characters and unrestrained exploration, paying homage to genre’s greats while modernizing the overall experience.” Just like The Messenger, the developer is aiming to deliver compelling combat scenarios in a beautiful and dynamic fantasy world, with six playable party characters with their own unique approach to battle....

Crypt of the NecroDancer is getting a new standalone rhythm game spin-off. Last month developer Brace Yourself Games updated its game for the first time in five years and teased that something new was on the way. Earlier this week at EA’s Gamescom press event the first multiplayer details of the upcoming Crysis 2 were revealed. Nathan Camarillo, an executive producer on the game, took the stage and introduced the press to the first multiplayer footage of the highly anticipated first-person shooter. Camarillo announced that what they will be showing is a live six on six “Team Instant Action” game played by 12 players backstage. StudioMDHR’s punishing boss rush game Cuphead launched last Friday and estimates have it that approximately 125,000 have purchased it on Steam. Steam Spy, the website that has a decent stab at estimating sales of games on Valve’s digital distribution service, says that Cuphead has sold about 125,000 copies in only a matter of days. This obviously doesn’t take the amount of copies sold through the Windows store into account. On a week that saw Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Total War: Warhammer 2 come to Steam, these numbers aren’t too shabby at all for the title that ‘will best most games in how it looks and sounds’ according to our review....

Carmageddon: Reincarnation will miss its planned April 23 release date, Stainless Games has confirmed, instead launching on May 21 to allow additional polish to be applied. “As you all know, we’d set our release date as the 23rd April. Well, despite all our best efforts (and believe me, the dev team have been working around the clock 24/7 to achieve this goal) I’m announcing today that we’re pushing that date out by what is technically referred to as ‘a tad’,” Stainless wrote in a Steam blog post....

After being confused by the internet for a Red Dead Redemption game due to a screenshot of it being posted on the GTAForums earlier in the year, Wild West Online is shooting straight from the hip with its first gameplay trailer. There’s some good news for those who were around for the heyday of Halo 3 multiplayer. One of the most popular maps in Halo‘s history is making its comeback. The Pit is returning in Halo Infinite, but not in a way that you might expect. The map is being remade using the game’s Forge mode, which will allow players to create their own maps and game modes.
