Call of Duty could ditch its yearly release schedule, according to a new report. According to Bloomberg, “high-level employees” at Activision have discussed ditching Call of Duty’s current annualised release schedule, which has been in place since 2005. This follows Microsoft’s $68.7bn purchase of Activision Blizzard - a deal expected to go through by the end of June 2023. There is no suggestion that this year’s Call of Duty, expected to be Infinity Ward’s follow-up to 2019’s Modern Warfare, will be delayed from the series’ usual slot before Christmas....

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward’s latest entry in the long-running FPS series, has been out for a few weeks now. Although the campaign is fairly short and linear, which is the norm for the series, depth and replayability can be found in the Trophies which add extra challenges to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s missions. Hot Swap is one of these achievements, requiring players to get at least one kill with eight different weapons during Old Comrades, which we ranked at number 5 in our list of the best Modern Warfare missions....

Modern Warfare 2’s full release is just around the corner, and ahead of this developer Infinity Ward is keen to clear some things up - notably that, despite some similarities in missions, the game is not running a “commentary” on the world’s current events. “It’s an entertainment adventure,” Call of Duty narrative director Brian Bloom explained recently (via PCGamesN). “And as far as real people and real places doing real things, you know, these are not based on actual events....

In 2013, Capcom released a remastered version of its 1989 NES classic DuckTales to the Wii U eShop and Playstation 3 Store, as well as on Steam. Later on, versions were released for Xbox Live Arcade and mobile devices. Then, in August 2019, the game was removed from all digital storefronts for reasons that have not been officially declared by any involved parties. Now, as of March 2020, DuckTales: Remastered has returned to all of the online stores through which it was first available....

Capcom has aspirations to become the world’s no.1 games developer, a note posted in the company’s annual report has said. Speaking in the report, Capcom’s head of consumer games development Yoichi Egawa explained that the company is currently focusing its efforts “on retaining talented employees and making capital expenditures in an attempt to strengthen development capabilities”, adding that it can’t afford to overlook popular genres like shooters and strategy games....

Microsoft Flight Simulator has become known for being a general aviation (GA) flyer’s dream. Its fairly accurate level of representation of most areas around the world makes it perfectly suited for flying low and slow, which is exactly how most GA aircraft operate anyway. Chasing Static bills itself as a short story. Clocking in at about two and a half hours, this is certainly the truth. It’s a first-person horror game that’s rather light on the horror. Mostly, it’s a narrative adventure game with a horror atmosphere. The storytelling is decent and the level design and adventure game elements make for an entertaining combination. But, an over-reliance on tired tropes, coupled with the anticlimactic wrap-up and short length, do make it less than required playing....

Chasm has been in development for the PC over the last five years. The initial Kickstarter was fulfilled, having exceeded the game’s initial goal by $41,000 thanks to nearly 7,000 backers. You can only guess, if the initial backers were anything like me, they were probably drawn to the 16-bit aesthetic visible in the development assets. It takes quite a bit of endurance to hustle through a roguelike, procedural Metroidvania type game....

Chivalry 2, the medieval PvP game where you can throw barrels at people, is finally heading to Steam this June. The 64-player game managed to get plenty of updates while it was on the Epic Games Store. Modes, weapons, and more got added to the game since its launch in 2021. Naturally, its move to Steam will be celebrated with, yes, even more stuff. Chivalry 2 launches on Steam with the Tenosian Update, bringing four new maps, a new faction, and more weapon skins....

Circus Electrique is a steampunk-themed R.P.G., with a circus spin, and it’s coming to consoles and PC on September 6th. Activision Blizzard has announced a start date for the first 2023 season of content coming to COD Mobile, and it’s coming next week. Entitled COD Mobile Season 1 Reawakening, the mobile version of the hit shooter series will be offering some map updates, new game modes and – of course – a brand new battle pass on Android and iOS. The season will based around the Lunar New Year, specifically celebrating the Year of the Rabbit....

Today Conan Exiles developer Funcom released a new video focusing on celebrating the 4th anniversary of the game. The game officially launched on May 8, 2018, after spending a bit over a year on Steam Early Access, so today marks the anniversary of the actual release. Interestingly, the video includes a tease of “one of the biggest updates Conan Exiles has ever received.” Details weren’t shared besides the fact that we received “a little taste of what’s to come” during the Grave Matters event that launched on December 8, 2021, and ended on January 10....

The first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 was finally unveiled earlier today as part of a Night City Wire live stream. This presentation largely focused on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the upcoming anime series. However, CD Projekt Red also gave us a glimpse at what’s next for Cyberpunk 2077, including updates and the first expansion. Phantom Liberty is the title for the upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red didn’t just given us a fancy title to look at, as there’s also a new teaser....

The developers of Days Gone at Sony’s Bend Studio have followed up on comments made by creative director and writer John Garvin. Alongside tech issues, Garvin blamed “Woke Reviewers” and reviewers who didn’t bother to play the game for the critical reception of the game on his Twitter account, which is currently protected and hidden from view. Bend Studio issued a statement, which you can see in full below, identifying Garvin’s views as “personal” and not shared by the studio itself and by its team....

Great news from Behavior Interactive, in partnership with NetEase Games, as Dead by Daylight Mobile receives a North American release this Spring. Players can head over to the Google Play pre-registration campaign to get more news about the release, and to snag up to three tiers of rewards when the game formally launches.
