The following review contains no spoilers. With every season, Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s brilliant Catastrophe (which they write and also star in) has gotten more dramatic. Picking up from the previous season’s finale, which ended with Rob backsliding into alcoholism and getting into a car accident, the show’s fourth and final season is its most dramatic yet. Never a series to pull punches, there are blunt depictions of our two protagonists and the friends and family members orbiting around them as they deal with grief, paranoia, sexism, loneliness, and mortality....

It’s not easy playing games when you’re photosensitive. For me, I’m okay most of the time. But every now and then I have to stop playing a game when things get too flashy. Sometimes I’m able to get through by strategically blinking or shutting my eyes. Other times I have to stop altogether. Surprisingly, the biggest release of the year, Cyberpunk 2077, appears to have no options for photosensitive people, even though people with some degree of photophobia make up between 5-20% of the human population....

Quaint painting adventure Chicory: A Colorful Tale has arrived on the Nintendo Switch from today. The launch was a surprise announcement during last night’s Nintendo Indie World showcase broadcast. In case you’re not familiar, you play as dog who calls themselves the number one fan of superstar artist Chicory. However, she’s gone missing, taking all the colour of the land with her. It’s up to you to wield her magical paintbrush to solve puzzles and help bring her back to restore the world to its former glory....

The all new Top Gear comes to BBC1 in May, and you can now get a glimpse of what’s to come in the very first trailer for the show. The trailer features the McLaren 675 LT and Ferrari F12 Tdf, a pair of Reliant 3 wheelers, and Chris Evans feeling a little unwell during a track session with Sabine Schmitz in California. Co-host Matt LeBlanc is also seen in a car....

It’s strange to think of it this way now, but not all online games had flight paths. Immersion into the world required a lot of walking. Back in the day when World of Warcraft was new, the addition of the flight paths was a novelty. Even then, there were critics that said flight paths would ruin the game, an echo of the ruckus when players got their own flying mounts in later expansions....

If you like mournfully hopping around a mysterious world as a little person solving puzzles, you might like the sound of Cocoon: it’s a deeply handsome puzzle-platforming indie from Jeppe Carlsen, the gameplay designer of Limbo and Inside. You play as a kind of fly-person, who carries various glowing spheres around various exotic worlds. It’s wonderfully moody, the opening desert hinting at some Sable-like vibes before we move on to a range of other ones, “worlds within worlds” as the blurb puts it....

In a little under three weeks, gamers everywhere are going to be hopping onto Call of Duty: Black Ops servers to check out all of the new and intricate maps Treyarch has created for them. While the sense of exploration that goes with a new multiplayer game is always fun, some gamers want to know ahead of time what they are getting themselves into. A few trailers for the game have given brief glimpses or even complete rundowns of the game’s maps, but now we have a complete list of the maps and a brief description for them....

Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK, developers of the anticipated RPG Cris Tales, have revealed a new look at a coastal town in the world of Crystallis and showcased new combat abilities. Cris Tales looks enchanting. It’s like Knights and Bikes and Persona were melted and mixed together to create this kaleidoscopic fantasy title. But, of course, Cris Tales stands on its own two feet with interesting inspiration and themes. The world of Crystallis draws from the experiences of the developers, and so the coastal town of Saint Clarity mimics Cartagena, Barranquilla and other Colombian cities close to the ocean....

Crytek’s latest project is entering closed alpha, and you could be a lucky enough to try it out before anyone else. The only question is, will your PC be able to run it? Hunt: Showdown is the latest game to come out of Crytek, veteran developers of the Crysis franchise. We haven’t heard from them in a while, and that’s because they’ve been hard at work getting their latest game ready to begin closed alpha testing....

Cyberpunk 2077 is, in terms of its stability, at “a satisfactory level,” according to CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński. In an interview with TVN24 (via Eurogamer), Kiciński said: “We have already achieved a satisfactory level in this regard. We have also been working on the overall efficiency, which we are also quite happy about. Of course, we also removed bugs and glitches, and we will continue to do that.”...

The DCEU’s Cyborg, Ray Fisher, just took a major shot at Joss Whedon and the theatrical cut of Justice League. Fisher who appeared (very briefly) as Vic “Cyborg” Stone in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and (more substantially) in Justice League offered a sharp critique of that latter film’s co-director Joss Whedon and presumably his vision of the finished product that eventually made it to theaters and underwhelmed both critics and fans....

Most casual fans recognize Dark Souls as that brutally hard series of action RPGs published by the same people who developed Pacman. The franchise offers some fun bosses and actual difficulty compared to most AAA titles nowadays, and that’s more than enough for the average gamer. For those more hardcore fans, though, Dark Souls is an entirely different beast. Every item has a description, and every description shines new light on the lore....

With the launch of No Man’s Sky on PC comes the possibility of data-mining the game’s code to find cool secret stuff. One such revelation which comes from a data mine is the presence of Xbox One in relation to the game’s Havoc physics, indicating that the space exploration game could well be heading to Microsoft’s platform at some point down the line. The lack of any mention of PS4 exclusivity on the game’s promo material supports the idea that Xbox gamers will get the game once a predetermined period of time has passed....

Dead Cells is finally putting on its big-boy pants and getting out of Steam Early Access. If you love Metroidvania games and you haven’t yet played Dead Cells, you are doing yourself a disservice. Widely acclaimed as one of the best indie games currently available, Dead Cells combines the classic 2D hack-and-slash exploration that we’ve all come to expect from any game that takes its inspiration from Castlevania and Metroid, but it also combines some roguelike elements in there too....

Announced in the September 9 Nintendo Direct, Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2020. Deadly Premonition follows FBI agent Francis York Morgan who sources his fortune-telling powers from coffee. He solves cases with his best friend Zach, who is imaginary, and the story careens from sensible and rational conversations to gruesome and disturbing horror. Expectedly, it divided opinion but became a cult classic, and now a sequel was unveiled during the Nintendo Direct....

Microsoft has announced the lineup of games available on “Games With Gold” for December 2019 and it can be summed up in a single word: nostalgia. While Insane Robots is unlikely to be nostalgic for anyone, the three other games on offer all tap into some form of childhood wonder. On the Xbox One side of things, Insane Robots and Jurassic World Evolution will be available. The former can be grabbed starting December 1 until the end of the month....

Earlier this weekend, PAX West attendees took pictures of some armor sets and exotic weapons that were included in the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep demo at the show. Among them was an armor set that many believed was part of the upcoming Garden of Salvation raid, and because it looked like a reskin, a controversy ensued. Then, an attendee claimed that they talked to Bungie and the developer revealed that the armor was actually tied to Vex Offensive, the new activity releasing with Destiny 2: Shadowkeep’s Season Pass....
