THQ Nordic has announced that paint-lobbing platformer de Blob is coming out for Nintendo Switch on June 26. It’s handy timing too, as de Blob originally launched on another Nintendo console, the Wii, back in 2008. The colourful title also showed up on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One just last year, so it’s obviously got some staying power. The Switch version will see both a digital and physical launch, though it appears it’ll carry a slightly higher price tag than the PS4 and Xbox One editions....

Today Electronic Arts announced the release date of the upcoming remake of the popular survival horror game Dead Space. The game will release on January 27, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The press release included a comment from Phillippe Ducharme, Senior Producer, to celebrate the announcement. On top of the reveal, we also get plenty of footage showing how the developers are transforming the venerable game in the Frostbite engine....

EA Motive has offered players some more insight into the upcoming Dead Space remake via a new blog post. Entitled ‘Inside Dead Space #1: Remaking a Classic‘ the blog seems to be the first of what we hope will be a regular series offering some additional insight – following a series of livestreams over the course of the year. It certainly sounds like the remake won’t slavishly follow the original, and in fact the team say they’re looking to the subsequent games as they retool certain aspects for this revisit....

It hasn’t been the best week for Destiny 2 players who like playing from a distance. While the balance update that Bungie revealed this week won’t be going live until the start of next season, it’s clear that Destiny 2’s sniper rifles are going to be considerably nerfed, and a lot of players are none too pleased about it. For those not up to date, sniper rifles have seen an increase in popularity in the past few months, thanks to some welcome buffs that were added to Destiny 2 with the Shadowkeep expansion, plus the introduction of the immensely-powerful Izanagi’s Burden....

Heading into Year 3 of Destiny 2, developer Bungie promised a renewed focus on PvP in the Crucible. Unfortunately, what Bungie said and what the studio has done do not align with each other. In fact, many Destiny 2 PvP fans feel that Bungie has done very little to entice them towards venturing into Crucible. Unrest within the PvP community is nothing new for Destiny 2, but it has sprung up again after rumors that Trials of Osiris might return in Season of Dawn....

Deus Ex’s Augaware website has been the subject of an “attack” resulting in a range of site issues and the appearance of a countdown timer. The timer will end at 2pm BST on Thursday, May 26. It looks like the site has been “hacked” by the Augmented Rights Coalition, a group of augmented activists fighting for fair treatments of augs. You can check the website for yourself here. DICE has announced plans to invite Battlefield 4 Premium members to help test and create a new map for 2013’s hit multiplayer shooter. The Community Map Project will see the developer working with players registered with Battlefield 4’s Community Test Environment to help shape the new map prior to its release, allowing them to playtest the unfinished map and contribute to the development process. “With the Community Map Project we’re really excited to collaborate with you, our Premium users, to take a map from concept to final, and then release it to everyone when it’s done,” DICE LA creative director Thomas Andersson said....

We still don’t have any idea if a new Dino Crisis game will ever materialize, but Capcom has given fans hope by renewing the Dino Crisis trademark. Call of Duty: Warzone might be getting a new 1980’s version of its Verdansk map next season, if a reported leak from a live action commercial is anything to go by. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, since-removed footage from a live-action spot was shared online that showed snippets of the new map, which according to them will replace the current Verdansk map at the end of the currently ongoing second season, complete with Cold War-era landmarks replacing several points of interest and others getting an 80’s themed makeover....

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Capcom’s much-loved Mega Man series, and as a result Capcom celebrated with an anniversary livestream event last night in which it revealed the first new main series Mega Man game in seven years. Entitled Mega Man 11, the new adventure will feature a mix of 3D modelled characters with hand-drawn environments in ‘2.5D’ style visuals inspired by his classic look. Returning characters such as Rush and Roll will feature, and the devs promise that the series’ hallmark difficulty will be retained, although there’ll also be difficulty options to get new players into the mix....

Capcom is notorious for repeatedly porting its games and it seems that the company is already preparing to do so for the PlayStation 5 and the successor to the Xbox One. Capcom has released an English translation of the Q&A session that was held as part of its last Financial Results Briefing. Questions were asked concerning the potential sales of Monster Hunter: Iceborne, the future of the Street Fighter series, and about the company’s upcoming release schedule....

Capcom has apologised to Street Fighter 5 players for failing to communicate the delayed release of upcoming DLC character Ibuki. Fans had expected the new character to be released in May, but Capcom failed to mention a release date in a blog about Ibuki. “We’ll be the first to admit that we can improve our communication with the community, in terms of where our priorities lie around the game and status updates,” reads a post on Capcom-Unity....
