Code Vein, Bandai Namco’s new action RPG, is the latest game in the increasingly popular “Soulslike” sub-genre. Marrying an anime art-style and innovative class system with the tough-as-nails boss fights, limited saving and dangerous encounters that are typical of Soulslike games, Code Vein represents a fresh spin on the popular formula. It’s a game which wears its inspiration on its sleeve, and this even extends into its multiplayer functionality. Just like in the Souls games, co-op partners can be brought into the player’s world to help with boss fights and tough encounters, but instead of looking for Summon Signs, in Code Vein players will send out a Distress Signal to call for help....

Epic Games Store’s free game of the week tradition continues with Creature in the Well. The digital storefront announced today that Flight School Studio’s dungeon crawler is now free to download. The deal only runs from now until April 1, so grab it while you can. The world of Crusader Kings 3 is already incredibly harsh. Zealots start holy wars on a whim, the five-year-old that’s ascended to the throne has outlawed drinking, and of course, there are all the other pleasantries of the middle ages. However, one was forgotten when Crusader Kings originally released — winter. Thankfully, players soon won’t have to imagine the peasantry struggling to keep warm in their huts. CryoFall is an ever-expanding 2D co-op sci-fi survival game set on a forgotten planet in the distant future. It’s in Early Access on Steam, which means there’s constantly work being done to the game. The game’s publisher, Daedalic Entertainment, has just released a video showcasing what’s been added to the game since launch. It’s quite a bit. And it’s available in-game now. Another addition to CryoFall is the free 8-hour demo....

Multiple Cyberpunk 2077 apartments were added post-release as part of the 1.5 update. Beyond the apartment you are given at the start of the game, there are four additional apartments to find in four regions of the city, each increasing in cost. Though you ‘rent’ each one, these are purchased with a one-time fee, essentially making them yours - allowing you to access your stash and earn apartment buffs. As well as new apartment locations, for those happy with the apartment at the start of the game, you can makeover your apartment through the EZEstates website....

Gamers around the world are racing to complete From Software’s Dark Souls 3 in the quickest possible time, with Japanese YouTuber muzi_nasuwho believed to be the current fastest at just 83 minutes and 18 seconds on the in-game clock. However, muzi_nasuwho’s time does not include defeating the five optional bosses, something Twitch streamer Distortion2 managed by adding only an extra four a half minutes to the total game completion time. Distortion2’s overall time is one hour 27 minutes and 45 seconds....

Koei Tecmo has announced yet another season pass for Dead or Alive 6 and the price is just as outrageous as ever. Coming in at another $80, fans with money burning holes in their pockets can look forward to a bunch of superfluous DLC that hardly justifies the price being charged. It seems Dead or Alive 6 can’t help but nickel and dime fans. The first new addition in this season pass is a set of Halloween themed costumes....

DoubleBear Productions has sent over word of a major update to zombie-slaying-and-community-management RPG Dead State, which is now available to all owners of the game. So substantial is this patch that it transcends the traditional numerical version system and instead has a name of its own: Dead State: Reanimated. It’s described as the “definitive enhanced edition” of the game, and includes a number of improvements and fixes arrived at through interaction with the game’s player base....

Seemingly out of left field, video game developer Bungie announced recently that it is cutting ties with publisher Activision and that it will retain ownership of the hit MMO franchise Destiny. While many initially celebrated this news, as Activision has an increasingly mixed reputation among gamers due to their inclusion of controversial loot boxes, the conversation is quickly turning to how this split will affect the future of Destiny. Even if the franchise is very much a series of highs and lows, it still holds an incredible amount of potential and a sizable player base....
