Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is said to be in talks to star as Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser in the BBC’s film drama Grand Theft Auto, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will dramatise the battle between Houser and Miami lawyer Jack Thompson who fought to ban Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto because of its glorification of violence. Casting details for Thompson have not been discussed. British helmer Owen Harris, who’s been in charge of an episode of Black Mirror, super heroes show Misfits and recently completed his first feature, will direct the drama for BBC Films....

Destiny 2 will launch its Shadowkeep expansion this fall, and with that comes an expectation from players that the new content will add more story to the game. At Gamescom, developer Bungie discussed the narrative direction of the Shadowkeep expansion, responding to a question about the pyramid ships that have appeared as a looming and unknown threat throughout the Destiny franchise. While Bungie did not go into great detail, as to not spoil anything coming in the Destiny 2 expansion, nor did it directly address if the pyramid ships would appear in Shadowkeep, Principle Producer Scott Taylor did say that Shadowkeep will push the game’s narrative forward:...

Bungie has released Destiny 2, its’ sci-fi first-person extravaganza in the early hours of this morning, and it’s also got a rather swanky looking PS4 Pro bundle to match. The Glacier White PS4 Pro Destiny 2 game and expansion pass bundle is a GAME retail exclusive, and to be fair it looks pretty bloomin’ lovely. The bundle comes with a copy of Destiny 2 on disc, a Glacier White PS4 Pro console, a matching Glacier White Dualshock 4 controller and the Destiny 2 season pass....

The first raid for Destiny 2 has been beaten, already. A Destiny clan called The Legend Himself (how apt) was the first to succeed at beating the challenge of the Leviathan, defeating the final boss in under six hours. In the latest This Week At Bungie community update, Bungie’s talking about future plans for Destiny 2 weapon rebalancing. These plans are stated to be in the works for Season 10 of Destiny 2, or as Bungie calls it Season of [Redacted]. Based on what Bungie says, Swords specifically are going to receive an “overhaul in functionality.” Other weapons, however, are going to be looked at with a more deliberate touch....

THQ Nordic has announced it’s bringing back 2005 alien invasion game Destroy All Humans for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2020. The third person adventure sees you play as the invading alien, where you must wreak havoc on a cartoonish mid-western town. The announcement also teases a restored deleted mission from the original game in the form of the Lost Mission of Area 42. Development for the remake is being handled by Black Forest Games, whose previous games include Giana Sisters....

David Cage-developed android simulator Detroit: Become Human has received a launch trailer ahead of its PlayStation 4 debut this Friday, and it’s about as serious as you’d expect from Quantic Dream. Detroit pretty much follows the same template as the Paris-based studio’s last few games, in that it’s a narrative-driven adventure placing huge emphasis on choice. The game takes place in 2038, where humanity has developed androids to pretty much do all of the donkey work that we’re too lazy to bother with....

Devil May Cry 5 is looking a right stunner so far, although that’s with good reason: Capcom’s said its facial animation tech is the best the company has ever produced. Speaking during an interview with VG247, Capcom producer Matt Walker revealed that the technical prowess exuded by the hack-’n-slash sequel is all down to the RE Engine, which of course powered last year’s Resident Evil 7: biohazard. ‘The most obvious thing you’ll notice upon first glance is the rendering – RE Engine saw our first commercialised implementation of a Physically Based Rendering (PBR) pipeline,’ said Walker....

Makima’s response to the attack, and her calmness even in the face of such a dire blow to the organization, leaves more than a few characters wondering if she wasn’t altogether surprised that such an event occurred. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming, presaged by bits of news. The newest thing to come concerns a cooperative multiplayer feature that didn’t make it into the game. Talking with Prima Games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer map design director Jeffrey Smith told them about “buddy boost,” which allowed one player help another reach some higher point of the map. “[The Buddy Boost] was badass if it worked, but it’s really hard to get some random person to cooperate with you,” said Smith....

Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward has been criticised for its use of the Arabic language and cultural misrepresentation in Warzone 2. Vlambeer co-founder Rami Ismail was among those who spoke out about the game, and who shared a detailed thread of criticism posted on ResetEra. “Why don’t you for once just hire some Arabs [and] locals to ensure the places you seem to insist you gotta blow us up in would at least pass the critical gaze of say, a three-year-old,” Ismail wrote on Twitter....

It looks like AMD will have GPUs with ray-tracing capability in 2020. AMD’s CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, confirmed as much in a Q&A session at CES this week. Consumers should expect Radeon GPUs to have support for ray-tracing sometime in the future, and Dr. Su also commented on a high-end Navi GPU. The creators of Cards Against Humanity are opening a board game cafe in a prime location in Chicago. When the cafe opens in January 2020, guests will be able to choose from a selection of more than 300 tabletop games to play while they dine on multicultural dishes. Among more well-known board games will be new indie creations from local Chicago designers, which will also be purchasable in the cafe’s store....
