The studio responsible for the Dead Rising series – which included development on Dead Rising 5 – has been shut down. Capcom Vancouver employees received word on Tuesday that the studio was closing. A Capcom representative indicated that 158 people will lose their job due to the closing, with a skeleton crew remaining in place until January 2019, “to finalize closure operations and logistics.” The official statement from Capcom indicates a concentration of development efforts in its Japan-based studios:...

Right from the start of this second coming of VR, CCP was pushing hard to show that VR games could be exciting. EVE Valkyrie was used extensively as a game to demonstrate VR for Oculus. Today CCP announced that 100 staff members at their VR studios have been let go with the closing of their UK based Newcastle office and their office in Atlanta. “Despite the success of the VR games we have released we will be shifting our focus to our PC and mobile initiatives, and will be centralizing those initiatives, along with the support of our existing VR games, to our offices in Reykjavík and London,” said CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson....

Activision finally released Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time on PC, but it comes with one big, annoying problem. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a New Game+ mode when it launches on PC and consoles next year. This is thought to be the first time that the developer has publicly confirmed that it is working on the much-requested Cyberpunk 2077 feature. Bandai Namco Games has announced that Dark Souls Remastered is due out for Nintendo Switch on October 19. The spruced up version of the acclaimed death simulator will launch on Ninty’s console alongside the Solaire of Astora amiibo. As you may recall, the Switch version was delayed not long before it was due to release alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions back in May. Dark Souls Remastered is an updated version of 2011’s dungeon crawler, itself a spiritual successor to 2009’s cult classic Demon’s Souls....

While PC players will have to wait a bit longer than those on PS4 to play Death Stranding, they will be getting a more fully-featured version of the game. The Death Stranding PC version has some exclusive content, including photo mode, but as it turns out, those on PS4 may get photo mode at some point in the future. Death Stranding game director Hideo Kojima has been sharing photos taken using the Death Stranding photo mode in the PC version to show fans how it will work....

Diablo Immortal players are reporting a new bug that is “reducing XP for everyone”. A thread on the game’s subreddit community - complete with examples and screenshots - is claiming that “there’s a bug that reduces the XP earned on a significant portion of kills and XP globes”. “We don’t fully understand why or when it will happen,” explains u/staplepies (thanks, NME), who’s one of five players “looking at this on and off for the last month or so”....

DICE has updated Battlefield 2042’s All-Out-Warfare playlists as part of week two of the game’s first season: Zero Hour. Breakthrough on the season’s new map Exposure will get a dedicated playlist alongside the dedicated Conquest playlist already available. This will make it easier for players to play Breakthrough on Exposure, as its currently based on pure luck. The Exodus Conquest playlist, which lets players use 2042’s Specialists in the remastered maps from older Battlefield titles, will be removed for now to make room....

Dirt Rally is heading to PS4 and Xbox One after enjoying a run of success on PC. Dave’s had a hands-on with the console version, which changes things up with new modes, tutorial videos, and more – and these new features will be added to the PC version. Dave interviewed Paul Coleman, DiRT Rally’s chief game designer, about the success of the game and the future of the franchise. Given that the console experience will match the PC version, there is a question of whether or not the casual audience, some of whom will be expecting DiRT 4, will appreciate this hardcore simulation....

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been rated by the ESRB and its description shed a little light on what the campaign contains (via Charlie Intel). The ‘soft reboot’ of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be a return to the serious elements of the series, drawing inspiration from the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s Death From Above and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s No Russian missions. Its E3 demo involved eliminating terrorists hiding in a townhouse, in which a woman pleaded for her life and said she was a hostage, before reaching for a detonator....
