It was rather shocking to learn that Cyperpunk 2077 could induce seizures. I’m curious to see how updates improve the experience for light-sensitive players, but I wasn’t expecting something so soon. Cyberpunk 2077 had a hotfix go live today that makes one major adjustment that should hopefully reduce the risk of the game causing issues. The effect in question is, of course, the braindance flashes, which were appallingly similar to a test pattern used to induce seizures in people with epilepsy....

Last week the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter feed came alive for the first time in four years which indicates the hype train could be ready to roll. Today Polish website GRYOnline cites unnamed sources saying that CD Projekt RED might be ready to show it off. The news apparently comes from two different sources and states that not only will a proper trailer be released at E3 but there will also be a playable demo behind closed doors....

It’s another year and here comes another Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond Light. After a short delay, Guardians are finally be able to set foot on Europa, learn more about its secrets, and harness a form of the Darkness via an element known as Stasis. The question, however, is if this whole thing is worthwhile. Truth be told, it’s too early to tell given that we’re only in the first week of Beyond Light‘s release....

This week, Destiny 2 is going to unlock its first exotic quest of Season 8, which leads to the Leviathan’s Breath exotic bow. Starting with the weekly reset on Tuesday morning, players will have a new quest awaiting them and their reward is a weapon that could shake up the PvE meta in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. In order to claim Leviathan’s Breath, there are 7 total steps to complete, many of which should be familiar to Destiny 2 players....

About this time last year, Destiny developer Bungie severed its ties with its publishing partner Activision to take on the full self-publishing rights of the Destiny franchise. The launch of the Shadowkeep expansion in October 2019 and the game’s ongoing Year 3 is Bungie’s first foray as a fully independent developer and publisher of Destiny 2. But the Destiny franchise is not the only IP the developer has going. According to comments made by Bungie CEO Pete Parsons in September 2019, Bungie is interested in becoming a multi-franchise studio with plans to launch at least one other franchise in addition to Destiny by the year 2025....

UPDATE: Shortly after this story went live, 2K UK clarified that it wasn’t teasing a new BioShock for 2016 in its new year’s tweet. “Afraid not folks,” the publisher said. “Was the only image we had that said Happy New Year in it! Earlier today on the Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel, a new trailer was released for the Director by Night documentary that follows director Michael Giacchino through the creation of Werewolf by Night. Giacchino started out composing music for Disney video games like Gargoyles on the Sega Genesis and The Lion King on SNES. From there he moved onto franchises like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor before finding his way into composing for TV and films....

Codemasters has announced that DiRT 5’s career mode spans five chapters with nine race types and offers more than 130 events (via PCGamesN). DiRT 5, which is on its way to the next generation as well as the current generation, also brings voice actors Troy Baker and Nolan North on board. Baker voices Alex Janièek, or AJ, the luminary of the off-road racing world. The player becomes his pupil and learns how to dominate the sport combining their one innate talent with AJ’s flair....

There’s something I keep thinking about lately. It’s this idea that we only have so much space in our minds for formative gaming experiences and it’s diminishing returns forever after. Chaos Esports Club have officially returned to competitive Counter-Strike with the signing of the former Ben’s Anime Team lineup. The North American organization released their previous Swedish roster in September of this year. They have now returned to CS:GO with a North American team, set to debut at DreamHack Open Atlanta this weekend. The roster is headlined by Canadian in-game leader Joshua “steel” Nissan, who made a comeback to the top of the North American scene while playing under the Ghost Gaming banner in 2018....

Gearbox Software has released a new video for Borderlands 3, which is part one of a (presumably) multi-part series of everyone’s favourite/least favourite junkbot Claptrap giving you a tour of one of the locales in the upcoming game. This first episode takes in Pandora, which fans will know as the planet featured in most of the previous Borderlands games, so you’ll probably recognise a good majority of the creatures Claptrap comes across, but it’s nice to see how they’ll look in the new game....

The League of Legends offseason roster changes have come in full force as Cloud9 makes a number of updates to their active lineup. The North American team has officially signed Danish AD carry Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen, while former jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen has joined Evil Geniuses in the organization’s return to the LCS. Cloud9 will field Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen in the upcoming LCS season. Zven transfers from Team SoloMid, having spent two years with the organization....

British publisher Codemasters has dominated the rally racing simulation field for over twenty years. Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has appointed a new Game Director for the RPG following the departure of former quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, who has left his role and the studio. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Gabriel Amatangelo will be taking over the reigns, having joined the studio in January of this year. He was formerly an employee of Bioware, with credits as Design Director on Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s DLC as well as working on expansions for MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic....

This, of course, is the sequel to Dangerous Driving, the high-octane racing game that was developed by a lot of people that previously worked on the Burnout franchise.
