Daybreak Games might have been working on a Marvel MMORPG project before financial difficulties led to waves of redundancies at the studio (via Reddit). Best known for the EverQuest and Planetside series, Daybreak Games went by the name Sony Online Entertainment before it was subsumed into Inception Acquisitions, LLC in 2015. Almost a week after this announcement, the company divulged that it had laid off an undisclosed number of employees, including several senior developers and project managers....

Horror and inclusivity don’t often go hand in hand, but Dead by Daylight is seeking to correct that with its first LGBTQ+ character. Fans have sought increased representation within the game, expressing the need to “identify with their favorite characters,” and Dead by Daylight will finally deliver on that front. Players can experience the 11th Tome of the game’s Archives: DEVOTION, which will feature the memories of The Twins and the survivor David King as he “comes to terms with his homosexuality....

Developer Motion Twin released the Update of Plenty for Dead Cells today, overhauling the difficulty curve between Boss Cells and tweaking nearly every weapon in the game. The Update of Plenty is the 19th major update for Dead Cells, following the Bestiary update and Bad Seed DLC. It’s currently only available for PC, but it should make its way to consoles soon. The biggest change comes from the difficulty curve between Boss Cells....

Today Koei Tecmo released a new girl in the English versions of the free-to-play PC game Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation. The new girl is Nanami, who was released in the Japanese version over a year ago (apparently the English versions fell even further behind after the release of Tina). She’s now available both on Steam and Johren. Nanami is Misaki’s former classmate and She’s voiced by Miyuri Shimabukuro, whom you may know for lending her voice to Lulua in Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland....

Norman Reedus has stoked the fires of online speculation by confirming that he’s talking with Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima about a new project. Gamescom 2019 was a treasure trove of information about Sony’s upcoming exclusive title, Death Stranding. While the game’s concept may still seem somewhat confusing, fans got another good look at the world Hideo Kojima and his team have created with cinematic trailers for characters such as Mama and Deadman. Additionally, a short gameplay clip featuring Norman Reedus urinating and delivering packages to hologram Geoff Keighley was shown. That gameplay footage inspired one YouTube channel to explore what it would be like with classic Mario sound effects....

Following a rough start and emergency server maintenance, players are finally getting to dive into Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and the heaps of new content Bungie has prepared. The Shadowkeep expansion for Destiny 2 is set to introduce a lot of changes to the popular game including a brand new armor system that doesn’t force players to choose between style and functionality. Game Director Luke Smith teased plenty of new Shadowkeep features and mechanics in his lengthy three part Director’s Cut blog post detailing the past, present, and future of the franchise. Following up on that, Smith revealed new details on the seasonal structure for Year 3 including the addition of a battle pass style mechanic....

Destiny 2, Bungie’s sci-fi looter-shooter, is currently in its ninth content Season. The Season of Dawn revolves around Mercury and time-travel, with players helping Osiris to prevent the Red Legion from changing the past. The Season also features a late-game progression system based on upgrading Obelisks scattered across Destiny 2’s solar system. These Obelisks will soon have a new purpose with the start of the Empyrean Foundation event on February 4th....

It’s time for yet another Destiny 2 hotfix, as 3.3.0.1 has touched down. The game has been updated to feature a host of changes and bug fixes that are sure to get the blood pumping. Okay, well, not sure, but you get what I mean. The hotfix for Destiny 2 also adds cross-play voice chat, at last. As for those changes, first off there are some fixes for seasonal activities. In regards to Astral Alignment, there was a problem where the Ether Collection encounter could soft lock when all of the Ether Wisps were killed....

Battlefield 1 developer DICE has said that ‘it’s a shame’ they didn’t initially include female soldiers in the World War I-based shooter. Speaking with GamesRadar+, DICE executive producer Aleksander Grondal dismissed the notion that the developer is merely hopping on a bandwagon by including women in Battlefield V, something which provoked an extreme backlash among a select group of gamers. ‘I mean, if we were getting on the bandwagon, I created Battlefield 1, and we could’ve ‘jumped on the bandwagon’ that time around,’ he said....

DiRT Rally is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on April 6, 2016, Codemasters has announced. A physical PC version will also release the same day. The rally racer is also due to exit Steam Early Access today following the release of the Winter Wonderland pack, which introduces a new Swedish track set in the snowy Varmland region, and two new cars: the Hyundai Rally and Volkswagen Polo Rally. Steam Workshop support has finally been integrated, too, allowing players to share Car Setup and Force Feedback settings, while a new ‘soft edge’ technology allows players to lean on snow banks by simulating the density of snow....

A free-to-play battle royale mode might be in the works for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the next entry into the enduring first-person shooter series. Call of Duty YouTuber TheLongSensation posted on Twitter that the battle royale mode is planned to launch in early 2020. It seems that, although connected to the upcoming Modern Warfare, it wouldn’t be an update and instead would be a free-to-play standalone game. TheLongSensation has made bold claims about the Call of Duty series before; he stated that next year’s game will be set during the Cold War with a campaign spanning two decades of historical conflict....

It has certainly been a Season of ups and downs for fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, with all the highs of big plays and all the lows of XP glitches. By far the biggest point of contention, however, has been the lack of official info about Warzone, but now the game is finally announced. A timer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has begun counting down to Warzone’s release and an official trailer has also dropped detailing exactly what players can expect out of the mode....

V-Rally is making a grand return next month on modern platforms with V-Rally 4. The publishers at Bigben Interactive have released two new gameplay videos showing off some races from the Rally discipline. One takes place in Malaysia after a rain shower, while the other is in Kenya during the heat of the day. The environments look well detailed, and the different weather conditions also look pretty nice. Both videos were shot from the hood cam, so here’s hoping there’s an actual cockpit view....
