At Microsoft’s E3 media briefing we got a look at a new Crackdown 3 trailer with some added Terry Crews, which was a lovely surprise. Crews plays the role of Commander Jaxon in Crackdown 3 and apparently wants you to ‘join the mayhem.’ He’s thoughtful. Crackdown 3 is out November 7 on Xbox One, exclusively.
With the release of Need for Speed Unbound this week, Criterion Games is properly back. Not that the Guildford studio’s been away, of course, but in recent years its role shifted towards a support studio, lending a hand with the Battlefront and Battlefield series among others - and its last standalone title was the X-Wing VR mission for Star Wars Battlefront back in 2016. It’s something of a moment, then, to have Criterion Games back - and back on Need for Speed for a second stint behind the wheel following 2010’s Hot Pursuit and 2012’s Most Wanted....

A new mod for Cyberpunk 2077 allows players to change the design of Johnny Silverhand to match his appearance in the original TTRPG. Project 2020 from modder ErebusEquity, available on Nexus Mods, includes tabletop appearances, original looks, and multiple face swap and hair swap options, as spotted by TheGamer. Cyberpunk 2077 is based on the Cyberpunk 2020 TTRPG from 1988, but has Silverhand played by Keanu Reeves in a central role to the plot....

The apocalypse is a pretty standard setting for video games. At this point, you’ve likely been tasked with saving the world so many times that the idea seems kind of stale. Which is why Darksiders is so refreshing, since humanity is already entirely wiped out, and now it’s just a bunch of divine beings bickering over whose fault it was. Darksiders takes a lot of inspiration from other, more successful titles, but what this series lacks in originality, it makes up for in setting and personality....

It’s official: the Trials of Osiris return to Destiny 2 in Season of the Worthy. For most of the current season, Destiny 2 players have been hard at work farming Polarized Fractiline and donating it to something called the Empyrean Foundation. Yesterday, the required 9,777,777,700 bundles of Fractiline were finally provided and the Empyrean Foundation was set. With the Lamp of Osiris lit, Bungie released a preview video of what to expect in Season 10....
The video game acquisitions continue: this time it’s French developer Quantic Dream, which has been bought by Chinese game company NetEase. NetEase, which publishes Blizzard’s mobile game Diablo Immortal, said it had acquired the studio behind Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls without disclosing a fee. NetEase originally acquired a minority stake in Quantic Dream in 2019. Quantic Dream, led by David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière, is now NetEase’s first studio in Europe....
